If i want XPprof SP2 to show me more details, it say following:
AppName: exefile.exe AppVer: 5.11.0.63763 ModName: _trinity.dll ModVer: 5.11.0.60424 Offset: 0015cb3d
It happened right after i applied the patch via auto-download.
Then, after some recommends from my corpmates i downloaded the full-install for the premium-client, but here it's exactly the same problem.
Safe-Mode on the other hand works ...
I have a Nvidia 260GTX with 178.13 drivers.
Any ideas?
thanks Emerald

Safemode and so classic-graphics are working ... but with my system, i don't like using the classics. And installing OLD graphics-drivers an this very new card is kinda meh, although it seems to work then.
In the end it would mean i have to install a different driver everytime i play another game.

if you can get a crash dump, attach it to a bug report and we can take a look.
i have access to a machine with a nvidia 280GTX, i will put the latest drivers on that tomorrow and try eve on there.
you could make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers and the latest directx runtimes, quite often that can solve a lot of problems.
i will reply here sometime tomorrow after i checked into it a little. (i even left a note reminding me, that will cost ya if you go to the fanfest )

Well, Windows creates a text-file in my temp-directory. Unfortunaly it is deleted when i close the crashed eve-client. But with alt-tab i managed to make a copy, i hope it makes any sense for someone:

is there any chance of finding help or at least a answer?
Or does it work 'as intended'?

sorry for the late reply.
i looked into it a little but i can't see anything wrong. i smoke tested eve on a 8800ultra and a 9800GTX and it seemed fine. tomorrow if i can't get a 260GTX then i will try it on a 280GTX.
we have found a memory leak in the graphics engine (in code thats not ready for TQ yet) so we have been running Eve almost all day in debug using the latest Nvidia drivers on the 9800GTX. i haven't seen any problems with the drivers yet.
hopefully i can test on the 260/280GTX tomorrow.

well ... i reinstalled my PC. I now have Windows Server 2008 64bit (modded to a workstation, it's almost the same as Vista, but it's claimed to be faster).
Eve runs now again ... no problems so far.
But the fact, that Eve run on XP until 1.1.1, remains.

after each patch the evefile.exe has to be allowed to conect to the internet from windows firewall or thirdparty firewall. the Symptom you discribe sounds like that may have bee what happened. But is a mute point now
