Role: Low-sec Gang dps support.
Typhoon: 3x BCU II 3x Gyro II Damage Control II
100M MWD II 2x Invulnerability Field II LSE II
4x Siege Missile Launcher II 4x 800mm Repeating Artillery II
3x Core Defence Field Extender
5x Heavy Combat Drones
Tempest: 3x Gyrostabilizer II 2x Warded Ladar backup Cluster Damage Control II
100MN MWD II 2x Invulnerability Field II 2x Large Shield Extender (swap out 1 for a Warp Disruption if needed)
6x 800mm Repeating Artillery II 2x Heavy Unstable Neut
3x Core defence Field Extender
5x Combat/ECM drones/3x webbing drones
Less damage than phoon - but you can drain a lot of cap. Compare to a Raven. Less damage but more neuting.
40 sensor strength
Maelstrom:
3x Gyrostabilizer II Co-processor II Damage Control II
100MN MWD II Photon Field II Invulnerability Field II Shield Boost Amp II (can swap for a Warp Disruptor if needed) X-Large Shield Booster II Heavy Capacitor Booster II (800 charges ofc)
8x 800mm Repeating Artillery II
2x Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer 1x Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer
Drones - whatever - combat - ecm - webbing - painting
Cheaper rigs on the more expensive ship. Solid active tank, with decent enough resists for gang's shield logistics to help rep.
Out of my 3 setups I liked the Tempest the most. It does a fairly decent amount of damage and can neut a target quite well because its weapons are capless (in the same way its beneficial for a Raven with torpedoes to shoot a heavy neutralizer). It also is very resistant to ECM.
The Typhoon has a great damage potential. I would use thermal and kinetic torpedoes to match up with faction EMP ammo, or Em and thermal to match up with barrage.
The idea behind these setups is to add damage for your gang and some neut support when possible. I think the native shield ammounts, and the fact that DPS gets too low when setup for armor tanking, is why I went the way of shield tanking these ships.
Warp disruption should be left for your gang's tacklers, or those Gallente/Amar pilot with spare mid slots.
What do you guys think of my BS support DPS setups?

No reason not to fly a phoon. EVER. Simply the best ship for the job always.
I fly (For fleet ops): Highs 4x t2 cruise 3x 425 autos 1x Large Remote Armor rep
Mid Large cap booster Cap recharger 100 mn AB Sensor booster
Lows 3x 1600 plates 2x EANM 1x large rep 1x BCU
Drones: 5x sentries 5x hammerhead t2
If I rigged it I would put armor rigs on it for more buffer.
I like the cruises because I can engage at any range I want, short or far, and since they are t2 i can put out some good dps since the ROF is all ready low with t2 and it gets a ROF bonus. The autos are there for some extra dps. (They really are crap and miss target 9/10 times. I need to fit TP.....)

Are you crying because its doing 1000 DPS without drones (1300 with ogre IIs)?
Are you crying because it still has a MWD?
Yeah its tank isn't the best @ 82,000 effective HP, but its more a heavy damage setup.
What is your fit - I would like to compare it against mine for a gang fight in low sec.

Axe the AB, Cap recharger and swap for a mwd and web/point. To fit the MWD you will have to get rid of the large rep and just fit a damage control. (At work no eft.)

I was giving low sec small gang setups - what did you think of my setups for gangs around the size of 8 vs 8?

Edited by: The Ragpicker on 02/10/2008 21:35:40 Edited by: The Ragpicker on 02/10/2008 21:35:02 In a fight of 8 vs 8, the other side is DEFINITELY going to have a Falcon. That means that your Phoon isn't going to get a shot in, so that 1000 DPS is completely moot. The 'Pest setup is alright, but I would alter it for combat utility and fit a passive armor tank in lows instead. Less damage, but a greater support for your gang, especially because a Pest is almost never your primary source of DPS. And with your Mael setup... why even fit the MWD? With Barrage you get about 40km range (low angular in falloff, so decent tracking). Also, if you drop the MWD, you don't need the Co-Processor and you can fit a tracking enhancer instead. In addition, you can fit another Invul field in its place to get another ~200 DPS tank. I would also put on Booster cap rigs on the Mael, because it essentially doubles the amount of time you can run the tank.

It won't be 1,000 but there will be some dps from F.O.F. and possibly drones if they get into play in time |

Actually, that Phoon setup listed deals about 1200 DPS. Also, there aren't any FoF Torps, so, yes, the only DPS will be coming from the drones. |

No ECCM = fail.
Also, shield buffered typhoon is extremely flimsy close-range ship on this scale. I'd rather sacrifice a bit of DPS and go plates + trimarks + RRs. Much better result altogether, you know?
