Is it jsut me, or when in warp, is there a blue/red shift efffect? Ive looked a few times and it always seems that there is, but im jsut not sure if its luck or if it was made intentioanlly? If so, good effort to CCP :) -------------------------------------------------- Now accepting ISK for my rattlesnake fund -------------------------------------------------- |

the little blue lines of the warp are transparent blue, while some starts are red. that's your shift

ItĘs defiantly intentional and it does always appear in warp. The effect in game is moderate and in reality (pure theoretically) I would imagine the shift would be enormous. And that's ignoring the tunnel effect that would have the most visual impact.

This would be awesome, I'd love to have that Star Wars warp effect.

There are loads of "easter eggs" like this Doppler effect scattered around the game.

it was MUCH stronger on sisi when they tested it...

The Doppler effect (blue/red shift) becomes infinite at the speed of light (or would do if the speed of light were achievable), so it actually makes no sense to ask how much of it there would be at any higher speed. One can assume that the capsule's telemetrics present you with an analogy involving Doppler shifts, as being something that your brain can understand and cope with.
The real-world explanation would be that CCP put it in because it looks cool. ________________________________________________

Okay. Next question: Why the stupid jet engine sound every time you enter warp? I wouldn't mind if it could be turned off (without turning off the sound altogether), but it can't.

I've had sound turned off for so long I just look at it as another level of 'realism' instead of a disabled feature.
But I agree, warp sound is a bit odd.

There used to be a rather profound red/blue shift while warping on sisi a while back... like, you could TELL you were going one way... but it got removed

In the fluff (also called Prime Fiction) the sounds are assumed to be computer-generated (by the pod) to give better feedback to the pilot of his surroundings.
