Edited by: Morgon Borga on 06/10/2008 23:39:57 Late last year, I decided to get started on learning how to PvP. After a couple of quickies (shuttles), I figured I was prepared for bigger fish
I had spent a rather cold and lonely evening hunting in Raravath. I was behind the wheel of my trusty blaster Moa and while I sat with cold beer in hand, quietly spamming the scan button in my safe spot, I noticed a Typhoon had appeared on scan.
I watched him jump from belt to belt for a while, not really intending to do anything other than watch him from afar. He was obviously ratting. The system was empty save the two of us and suddenly I began to have a dark and rather ridiculous thought...
Sure, I admit I had a few beers by this time and was well on my way to the land of Blissful Inebriation However, I began to muse about my chances at killing a battleship. Up to this point, I had never killed anything even remotely comparable to a battleship and certainly not on my own.
Another gulp of cold beer and why not? A quick scan reveals his location in the second belt. I warp to zero. As I enter the belt, he looms large on my screen, only 20km away. I hit the AB and burn toward him like a madman on fire Orbit, scram, web, damage. I go to work on that Phoon nervously laughing the entire time, expecting to be dealt with swiftly and sent back to station in my pod.
After a few seconds, the target comes to life. First yellow, then red as he begins to pound on my poor Moa with EM Cruise missiles. Suddenly, I realize there are no drones on the way to shred my hull. What gives? However, I'm too drunk to really care much and still expecting death to come at any second, I wail on him with everything I've got.
Soon, I notice that he's well into armor and I've not lost 50% shields yet and still have plenty of capacitor should I need to use the shield booster. Local chat begins to flash...
"STOP STOP PLEASE STOP" are the words I see from my victim. Now it finally dawns on me, I wasn't going to be cannon fodder this night. In fact, the Phoon pilot was loading his pants He soon hits structure and it goes downhill very fast for the victim. I still haven't dropped below 50% shields and never had to touch the shield booster.
POP! One Phoon down I was shocked to say the least, barely two months old and I had killed a two year-old toon in his Phoon (rhyme was intended). I was curious to see his build and soon understood why he had gone down like a bag of ****. Shield booster, armor repairer, hull repairer, mining lasers, and that was the best part of his overall build. In the end, it was easily one of the worst fits I have ever seen. To this day, I consider the pilot a proud Ebay pilot
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. No, I don't care that it happened 10 months ago. I won't be posting the KM because Mitnal might give me the hammer
Enjoy!

Whether you post the killmail or not this thread relies on a killmail for content and will probably be locked. So go ahead and post it anyway so we can at least verify that indeed a Moa did something productive.

Oh my, that was a pretty schizophrenic setup. Not as earth-shatteringly bad as an omni-tanked Navy Mega but still really awful.

In all honesty, I say the Moa is a vastly underrated ship. I got quite a few solo kills in that rattletrap, nevermind they were mostly defenseless noobs
Perhaps one day, I will try getting a nice kill with a Bantam. A Megathron kill would be sweet

Good Kill..
The best fights you will ever have in this game is when you expect to die.
I wouldn't say he was a "eBayer", just not a clue what he's doing. You'll be suprised how many are out there. *** Of all the things I've lost, I miss my boot.ini file the most ***

Nice kill, sometimes you just have to give it a go. Well done and while we can all say that the Typhoon pilot was an idiot / ebayer etc; it still took some courage (Dutch courage) for you to decide to engage it with a Moa.
Well done and more power to you. To anyone out there; never think that you're out-matched or out-gunned. Sometimes, turning around and go hell-for-leather at someone in a far bigger ship gets them worried as hell. You want to simply kill them; they want an easy kill and/or to survive. The difference in mind-sets and attitudes can give you the edge.
More killings please!

You got all of 3-4mil in loot off him. You woulda gotten 5-10 times that by ransoming him. Instead all you have is a comedy killmail. Which you will soon learn isn't all that rare a commodity.

I don't ever ransom. I make plenty of money so tears are the greater commodity in my humble opinion
