Let me take the Thorax for example. Say I'm using T2 medium blasters and cannot fit all 5 high slots with Heavy Ion IIs but can fit 3 Heavy Ion IIs and 2 Heavy Electron IIs, am I better off doing that or just fitting all Heavy Electron IIs?
Other than varying optimal on the blasters, I don't see any negative effects if I have the spare PG to mix like this.
Am I wrong? --- |

The purist answer: Fit all the same sized guns.
The rational, clear thinking answer: Fit a mixed rack for now, and work on AWU.

Yeah, this is with AWU to IV and Eng to V.
It's mostly the Thorax. With my current setup, I can fit 3 Heavy Ion IIs and 2 Heavy Electron IIs. It just seemed better than to gimp my DPS by going all Heavy Electron IIs. --- |

Imo just fit 3 ion blasters and 2 electron blasters. I did the same.

RCUs. As long as you have the mandatory 3x damage mods, your first priority with your remaining low slots is to get the grid/CPU to fit the largest possible guns. Tanking is for losers.

As long as they are blasters you should do fine. If the blasters have too much of a difference (that overwhelms the falloff) then you can load different ammo into them. Thus making the optimal identical. Of course in some situations those 1km changes in optimal can be a good thing ;)

Lucky for you, blasters are probably the only weapon system (besides drones) in which you can get away with a mixed fit, since the range on all of them is so short, any range difference between them is almost trivial. Of course the damage matters, but you will get more dps from a mixed fit than if you would take every gun down 1 size.
If I had an Alt I would probably post with it... |

Is not enough. With a 1% PG implant you can get one additional ion blaster, but it is impossible to get 5 ion blasters by using PG implants.

OK well 4+1 Ion/Electron should be good enough until/if you train AWU 5.
