Depends- are you playing for mega-unreasonable amounts of time and spending ú100 a month on alt accounts? If yes, then no, she's being reasonable. If no, then yes, she's not being reasonable (er, you follow me). |

If you feel that eve is more important, than maybe you shouldn't be married.
All the girls i ve been out with hated video games in general, Not many do.

well....i only have 2 accounts, so no not a money issue.
And i do love her (would love her more if she gave it up )
But the major problem it seems is the amount of time i spend on the game.
I know i need to spend more time with her, i get it.
I need to manage my time a little better and get my priority's straight....
I just like killing ppl. It makes me feel good inside |

A guy I know, with quite a good reputation in the game (a well known PvP'er and corp boss), had a girlfriend and a baby and still managed to run a large in-game corp. Ok, he lost his job and she left him, but he was l33t so he didn't really care. What an idiot! Don't be like him.
imho, Eve should be the last thing you do after you've spent time chombering your wife and playing with the kids ;).

Do a deal. Get Sky+ (Tivo etc.)
She get's to record all here favorite programs you can't stand watching and watches them all on two evenings a week and while she's doing that you play eve. |

Have wife that's quite enough. 
It works for me reasonably well although keep in mind Wife > Eve so fit a cloak on potentially long ops too then you don't have to stress too much, well, at least while cloaking isn't nerfed, or the the last episode of '[insert country name]'s top model' is over with no replacement for a few weeks.

Yea no shit man, everything takes so much time in this game, its not a game you can just hop on for a few minutes, i've been on roaming gangs that last for 5 or 6 hours..and your roaming so its not like "ok guys i gotta go watch sex and the city with my wife" so just wait here in enemy space for an hour, i'll be back... |

my GF was an avid MMO player, often wasting 20+ hours per 2-3 days on some of the localized korean grinders here.
She completely understands my position, I dont completely understand how she can handle 20+ hours of torture

Well, if you leave your PvP life and become a carebe... er... mission runner, you could play this game more casually...
That or agree on a deal with your wife.
Those of us here with RL responsabilities (wife, kids, a real job) just hide here from ugly things in our lives, we don't really play. We use Eve as a way to evade a little from our daily routine. If we really play, then we are setting aside responsabilities and that's not a good thing.
You need to find out what are you hiding from. And why you prefer to be hidden here than facing your responsabilities. Solve that and you'll start to spend less time here and more with your wife.

I agree to an extent however there is such thing as alone time. If you spent every moment you could with someone after years of being togeather I could only imagine the friction that couple would have. Marrage isnt some game that you need to play every waking moment and can move on when your done with it onto the next one, you need periods of solitute to be yourself which is what a game can provide.

That's what makes EVE so much better than other MMO's. You can fit a cloak on every ship in the game, and you can leave a roaming gang any minute you want.
I've been a fulltime gamer for the last 7, soon 8 years. I'm paid to sit on my butt and do nothing, so I play MMO's. At two points in my life RL suffered because of gaming, the first was raiding in Everquest, the second was raiding in WoW.
Currently I have 8-10 accounts active in different games but as recent as the three last days I've logged out to do RL stuff with a few minutes notice, after recieving unexpected phonecalls.
Cloak/dock up, if you have aggression, leave the pc for 15min while getting dressed/brushing teeth, whatever. Log out.
EVE is very very very RL-friendly. The only situation in EVE where you can't leave with a moments notice, is if you are the main cyno pilot on a fleet op, or sit in a capital, bubbled in the fleet ops.
Can't stress this enough, EVE is very RL-friendly. If you struggle to find time for your wife, you gotta consider your priorities. It does sound really unhealthy to me. If it's a matter of your wife just not wanting you to play, but she doesn't have any suggestions for anything else for you to do.. then it sounds like the unhealthy aspect is her. Control needs? You got to have your own time and hobbies, her hers. If she fail to have hobbies it's her problem tbh, but you are still part of the relationship so got to talk that out. If you care.
Not easy stuff always, and I got my own flaws, but seriously.. third time I say it, EVE is very very RL-friendly. 99.9% of the time you can log out with less than 5mins notice. And remember to not fly what you can't afford to lose. Expect to lose ships to RL interference.
