@CCP : Is using an Eve Players real name on these forums a bannable offence / Eula violation or not?
I just want to know if I can use a persons real name on this forum, instead of one of his characters name, if 'I feel' his / hers real name is known on the Internet in some way? |

I believe it should be, CSM or not. If CCP decide someone should disclose their name to be on the CSM those names should still not be used on forums anyway.
What would everyone feel like if someone publicly flogged on here now had a bit of a breakdown from all the oublic pressure and did something bad, you know, say suicide? After all cyber bullying is wrong, right? Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

The rules and policies state that you cannot "divulge" another player's real-life information. That would imply that if something already is general knowledge in the community, you can mention it; however, if it is something you know but most people don't, you cannot.
Personally, I'd draw the line to it being ok to use a player's real name in a thread where they used it themselves first (e.g. Mittani's apology), but not elsewhere. It's probably tighter than necessary, but I think it's better to err to the side of caution.
I am fairly certain that using a real name here if you found it elsewhere in the internet would be an offense. |

I, too, take videogame seriously enough that I often plot to sexually assault the spouses of my videogame enemies. Maybe snuff the life out of one or two of their kids if they have any, who knows! Those are the stakes when you play against me in videogame.
Videogame is for keeps.
Yeah, no. So ******* creepy and every manner of wrong, this whole IRL escalation thing. Christ almighty. |

If the person voluntarily chose to run for CSM with the understanding that their real life identity would become known then I can't see how saying anything about them, unless its illegal, could be against the EULA.
If someone chooses to put themselves in the spotlight they can't complain when they get attention, even if it is attention they don't like.

Here is some information you might find useful:
Quote:To be considered for eligibility, a candidate must submit a photocopy of a valid passport to CCP . Once CCP has verified the playerGÇÖs identity, that the candidate is 21 years old and confirmed his or her account status, the candidateGÇÖs real name, country of residence and character selection of choice will be officially announced to the community.
-- this is from the CSM whitepaper
Quote: As per the CSM white paper (http://community.eveonline.com/download/devblog/CSMSummary.pdf), real names and countries of residence of past and present CSM candidates are made public to the community when they decide to become candidates.
Because of that, sharing of these details (which are essentially disclosed during the election process) is not considered a violation of the forum rules, although, of course, all other rules are still in effect.
If you are talking about a non CSM member see the forum rule below:
Quote:No posting of personal information
Please respect the privacy of other Eve players and do not give out information such as phone numbers and addresses.
