From what I've noticed:
1. Those periodic freezes happen at exactly every 60 seconds
2. They are unnoticable at first when the client is freshly loaded, but become longer and more annoying the longer the client is running.
3. There is no interruption of sound and the mouse pointer can still be moved, but everything else on the screen freezes
4. Directly after a freeze, the graphics appear to "catch up" for the lost time. There's no sudden gap after the freeze, just - everything happening twice as fast for a second or two.
A friend of mine who also plays EVE reports the same phenomenon.
This is exactly what's been happening to my EVE sessions since Quantum Rise.
hi, glad im not the only one having this problem. i agree with everything you said there accept the "exactly every 60 seconds" bit. For me it freezes for 2-3 seconds everytime i open a new window, click on something in a window, perform pretty much any UI action. getting to the escape menu takes ages and minimizing/maximizing also takes forever now too. Many of my corp mates also have same problem. i have also tried the "set interval to one" option and that does not work, CPU seems to spike wenever using the UI. Restarting the client does fix it for about half an hour then it gets bad again. Hope they sort this out. keep posting guys

Edited by: S3RGEANT on 14/11/2008 11:12:01 bigog. it isnt only ATI, and it isnt to do with temperature. this is happening to pretty much everyone and has only just started since the release of quantum rise

"Player y leaves." messages but update the complete channel member list on a regular basis (in this case obviously every 60 seconds). And that apparently caused my client to freeze for that time.
This is right but also not workable! If I close the big channel I'm going to get freaking killed flying around in Null! I have "the big channel" set to hide character list. Every time it updates I get smacked by the long pause but this doesn't happen for a few hours after I start the client.
i gotta admit i thought that was the cause of the issue at first, but then i thought 'hey this didnt happen before' sooooo , yea im goin for memory leak :P (and bigdog please stop posting constantly about the temperature of your graphics cards, honestly it isnt the issue! lol) |

did you consider that it takes a lot of time and information to fix a memory leak or whatever is causing the issue? Did you consider that they need all the info they can get to help them figure it out?
if ccp asked me to send them my dxdiag, evelog and run a program that tracks memory leaks, I would do it to help them figure this out. not all computers are created equal, even computers with the exact same hardware and software don't respond the same all the time. they're working on it, give them time.
i think its irrelevant that all computers arent created equal. The fact that its happening to EVERYONE is concrete evidence that its not our computers that are at fault. There is no reason for them to need our system information to help them fix the problem. use your own god damn computers! |
