same issue here.
Interval set to one.
Dual core e5200 + 4gb ram on vista 64 bit. GF 8600 GTS, latest drivers for it.
freezes every 15-20 seconds, running in a window / fullscreen, multiple clients or a single one.
will we kindly have CCP maybe at least... look at it ? ----

Edited by: BIGDOG4 on 14/11/2008 18:25:40 Please notice by turning off the shadows and keeping bloom to low the videcard preforms at about 71degrees instead 96 however the game still starts freezing during highly populated timezones. Restarting computer solves problem temproary for about an hour or so but the issue still comes back even with premium graphics disabled i will download the 650mb client tomorow and try again ! Another thing when the freezes start ocuring they are as often as from 30 to 40 seconds and last up to 10 seconds !

This is a memory leak in the client.

Not that simple problem im afraid its more than memory leak cause the problem starts to be transperant during primetime otherwise its bearly noticable in my opinion its about server load and the new graphics they added im afraid server cant handle iit cause somethin they added was not tweaked :(

I finally found the solution to my problem: I left the Rookie Help chat channel. Big chats like that apparently don't spam your client with "Player x joins." "Player y leaves." messages but update the complete channel member list on a regular basis (in this case obviously every 60 seconds). And that apparently caused my client to freeze for that time. |

This is right but also not workable! If I close the big channel I'm going to get freaking killed flying around in Null! I have "the big channel" set to hide character list. Every time it updates I get smacked by the long pause but this doesn't happen for a few hours after I start the client. |

2. They are unnoticable at first when the client is freshly loaded, but become longer and more annoying the longer the client is running.
3. There is no interruption of sound and the mouse pointer can still be moved, but everything else on the screen freezes
4. Directly after a freeze, the graphics appear to "catch up" for the lost time. There's no sudden gap after the freeze, just - everything happening twice as fast for a second or two.
Not to jump on the bandwagon, but exactly what Lisandraia said. Exact same problem on two different machines (AMD/64 box & Dell XPS laptop), two different OS's (XP/Pro 32 SP3 & Vista Business/32), two different video cards (GeForce 7900GS & GeForce 9600), all current driver releases. Lisandraia stated the problem perfectly, so no need to repeat. Have noticed that CPU utilization is 100% constantly whilst the game is running under XP, but varies under Vista. I was thinking a memory leak, too (programmer by day, miner by nite). :)
Has anyone checked it under a 64-bit OS? Plan to give Win Server 2008 a shot on the AMD/64 box... Wondering if problem will go away with the better memory management, or just not work at all.

I have same problem, started after the patch, whole Eve client seems to be slow and laggy. Whatever I do, every single time I click on anything to play, move, whatever...its very laggy. Seems like the post patch client consumes significant more resources. I cannot notice anything worrisome in CPU or memory usage. Only thing I can think of is Quantum Rise has just made my graphics card obsolete...? |

i gotta admit i thought that was the cause of the issue at first, but then i thought 'hey this didnt happen before' sooooo , yea im goin for memory leak :P (and bigdog please stop posting constantly about the temperature of your graphics cards, honestly it isnt the issue! lol) |

Things that help so far : When server population is at peak disable premium graphics its still stays but is more managable Reboot your computer helps for 1.5 hours or so notice not just restarting the game but the pc Turning off shadow effects and keeping bloom to low lowers your video card temperature by around 25 degrees! |

I understand the heat thing, really I do... But I have a fairly crappy stock cooling system and running two premium accounts (slow though one may become post QR) I'm still only hitting mid 60s C on my 8800GT. If heat has you so stressed (and really, I don't think heat is the reason this slowdown/stutter thing is occurring) why don't you consider looking into RivaTuner? Using it I turn my fan up from default load and voila! not so hot temps anymore. (At least certainly for an 8800.) |

Absolute rubbish that we should be expected to put up with a serious downgrade in gameplay after a patch.
Has this happened before with patch upgrades? I'm new to eve. Really enjoyed the game until this new patch.

One BIG....HAIRY...Memory leak
Vid Card drivers all updated - check OS updates - Check Can play the game about an hour before the performance becomes so bad that I have to restart the client. CPU usage is at 100%
Tried a complete reinstall of the client. Didn't work.
This was not a problem before the patch was released.

Same thing going on here. I just patched the game, didn't change anything else, and it's blocking up constantly, on every mouse click, on every jump (jumps take like 20-30 seconds, it's just waiting and waiting, but the net seems to be fine, and i'm nowhere near jita). When i press Escape to bring up the menu, it takes 10-15 seconds for the window to appear. And I'm docked!
I don't think it's a video driver/card issue, because when it's working i get 50-60+ fps, it's going smooth. But whatever i try to do (open/close ANY window, jump, dock, undock) it just freezes for a couple of seconds. And the CPU usage for exefile.exe seems to be always 90-95+ ... I don't have anything else running, only one EVE client.
I tried cache off, cache low, interval one, I've been playing with no sound, no voice from day 1, in windowed mode 1024x768, classic graphics, nvidia GeForce 7600GS, 128bit, 256mb memory, and 2GB RAM. Had no problems, until this patch came along.
+ to this (but ATI Radeon HD 2600 Xt 2gb Ram) also i cant use my second or third account like be4 its like playing this game with p3 or somethin.. its painfull..

I am having the same problems as some have mentioned here.
When first starting the client it seems ok for a short time but continually gets worse and worse...to the point where my client is freezing for seconds every time I open/close a window, bring up right-click menu, move hangar items, open fitting, undock/dock...basically anything that requires a mouse-click.
These issues seemed to coincide with the Quantum Rise patch.
As it seems to get progressively worse over time are we looking at a memory leak?
Hopefully we can hear some news on this soon as the game is pretty hard to enjoy atm. |

I have two boxes. Both machines are very similar, except one has ATI graphics, other has Nvidia. Neither card is new enough to run the premium version.
The lag problem seems to start on both clients randomly, sometimes after more then hour of play or maybe only as little 15 minutes of playing. On both machines, I have to quit and restart the client to make the problem go away, but that only temporarily helps. Problem eventually comes back.

This is getting old.
Given that there are a great many folks paying US$15/month or more to "enjoy" this game, I find it curious that there isn't someone at CCP who is responsible for watching/responding to critical issues in the forums. I'm assuming that CCP isn't a couple guys in a garage somewhere, of course, and that they have QA folks on staff. So, given the assumption of responsible persons in paid positions (or, rather, positions paid by our subscription fees), I think we need to have some substantive response from CCP. I've been in software development for thirty years (yes, I'm an old fart playing the game), and this kind of disregard for client concern kills software companies. The list is long. CCP ain't Microsoft; the community needs to speak up, and CCP needs to respond in a substantive manner. |
