Okay, so I have a GSK but cannot set the password until I have set the 'general password' according to a pop-up box. Tried anchoring and setting password with no result. Sooooo... what's the general password then CCP (or anyone)?
Cheers!

Hmm.. tried that and I still get the message 'the requested taks requires the general password to have been set'.
Oddly enough it then seems to set a password or similar, as then when I try and open the container it asks for a password, I enter my previously set password and get the same 'the requested task... bla bla' and the container doesn't open!
Oh dear!
I have the anchoring skill and I assembled the containers in my hangar, fly into space, jettison (and have launched for self), anchor then try and set a password and always get the message above.

What security rating does the system you are using them in have? You can not anchor Secure Cans in 1.0 or .9 space (might not be able to anchor in .8 either... not sure on this though).
Also be aware that if a Secure Can is not anchored anyone can come along and scoop it up into their hold if it's big enough... all WITHOUT criminally flagging themselves to you....

The first time you deploy a GSC, you leave the original password field blank and fill in the new password fields.
When you want to access the GSC it will ask for the password even if you are the owner(unless you've opened the GSC in the same game session already).

I'm definitely in 0.5 space, but maybe I'll have to test whether the containers ask for a password when first opened with an alt, either that or wait to see if the ore gets nicked.

Hello, main character here.
The password must work as descibed, open the secure can once and you don't need the password after this. I think this was proved by me mining in 0.5, two dudes come along and sniff at my cans while I nervously hover over the warp button and my stuff is still in the can when I come back later.
However these questions may become irrelevent as I've found that level one missions assigned in 0.5 space pay out huge amounts versus 0.5 mining, but at least I've got something to fall back on |
