I dont get what's so "addicting" about wow. Honestly from what I've seen, It seems the global process of playing wow is grinding to 70, then once that point has been reached, grind for better items to grind for even better items, repeat.
WTF is so fun about slapping around AI scripts, being told what to do, and using the same exact spell over and over again?
I've seen my buddy do a raid, and it consisted of looking at a little graph to make sure the tank stays at 100%, press the number 1 button a LOT, <insert some simple sequence of tasks if raid isn't run n' gun>, roll for loot. Repeat.
Then again, it's faily easy to bash Eve or even Diablo in similar manners, but I guess to each their own.(but why must there be over 10mil?)

Being a fan of the RTS's, I don't consider WoW a part of the WC canon.
I mean, they killed off Illidan, who is easily one of the coolest blizzard characters ever created. Ranks up there with Tyrael IMO.

When I played, Wow was fun... for 3 months. After the expansion, it will probably be fun for another 2 months. Expansions only come out every year or so. Therein lies the problem.

I am. When a new WOW expansion pack comes out, all the shallowest and least interesting EVE players go on a holiday for a few weeks. This is a good thing. |

**** if I know, but most of them are.
I had a different friend try the WAR Beta with me because he was sick of paying for gear repairs and didn't like doing the raid thing.
He's now back and playing.
It's an OK game but I totally don't get the long term appeal. |

Not gonna rush into Northrend, I'll finish my Netherdrake grind first, Everyone needs one. Its like a rite of passage.

The funnier thing is, there won't be rep requirement when Wotlk hits.

Welcome to the tard school of gaming.
EVE = pay for subscription, bugs, nerfs and for your losses (or grind dozens of hours for them). Welcome to the masochist school of gaming.
Also, the last "real" EVE expansion was RMR or so ... The rest were minor updates touted as "biggest expansion EVAH!".

Not gonna do it ... Although I do like the very "technical" aspect of finding the best gear / maximizing the character's effectiveness, WoW has become mainly a game for small children with all those cute events and also a game for hardcore basement dwellers who want to farm rep with daily quests and raid for hours as often as possible.
Perhaps I'm just getting too old for it and should go find more "casual" games. ;-)

Been playing the expansion for several months, since around the time of the official Beta release. Enjoyed it, but decided not to spend horrendous amounts of time on the test server for something that I will eventually need to do again.
That said, levelled a Deathknight from 55-77, and it was a really enjoyable experience.
But, will most likely be heading towards 80 at a rapid pace on my Mage come November 13th. There's a lot of content to see, that I want to see with the friends I play with.
Once it's 80, then I can work on the Deathknight. \o/

You'll quest all the gold required for CWF on the way from 70-77.

Nah, not gonna try this one. Burning Crusade was fun, but now that WotLK is coming out, it's clear they're gonna stick to a roughly bi-annual cycle of adding 10 levels and making players start from scratch.
No thx, I don't want to grind for shoddily recolored versions of tier 1 armor from the original pre-expansion WoW so I can have higher stat numbers.

Have WotLK on pre-order, though not particularly excited about it. There's a lot of lvl 70 things I've not seen so it's not like there's not enough to do. I spend most of my time PvPing with my NE druid when I do play, which isn't very often, so in that regard, the introduction of new PvP areas will be refreshing. I never understand how to this day there can only be 4 different battleground maps, polished as they may be, it's insane. Saying that, there is often not much happening, especially if you aren't a lvl 70 character, so more maps would spread those few players even more thinly.
The new talents/abilities are a little different, and has meant my druid is stronger in some areas, but less so in others (nothing that lvlling to 80 won't fix in all likelihood). Saying that, I'm not sure increasing the cap to 80 is a great idea. I imagine it being the same as 70 with simply more of everything (hit points, damage, whatever) simply scaled up. It'll just make fights take longer, everyone even tougher, not to mention all the powerful equipment players have amassed at lvl 70 will likely need replacing to keep up.
Also, the new 'knockback' abilities introduced (that send you backwards a distance) are awful, and in my opinion ruining the game potentially. Particularly in areas like the flag area in EotS, the towers in AV and the Lumber Mill/BlackSmith in AB. They can completely change the course of a given match with this stupid new feature. I sincerely hope they get rid of this effect, but not sure faceless dev teams care about these kinds of things. |

At the initial announcement I was considering not getting it. However now that more details have been released on it + the fact that other fantasy mmo's have not proven themselves to me to be able to provide me with a good reason to switch I have pre-ordered it.
The new talents are already ingame as well as the achievement system which has gotten me back to playing after some months of inactivity due to boredom. Blizzard has yet to let me down on their promisses and I hope they continue to do a good job...other mmo makers may take the hint though to stop being like wow and do their own thing, because I do agree that the fantasy mmo industry could do with some new and refreshing things that don't keep coming from blizzard (or get stolen by blizzard and fixed, like fx. warhammer's pvp leveling system) >_>
