Originally by: Lazuran EVE = pay for subscription, bugs, nerfs and for your losses (or grind dozens of hours for them). Welcome to the masochist school of gaming.
Bugs, nerfs and grinding (a lot more grinding) in WOW. You respawn with everything after death so you lose nothing which makes it good for the kiddies who will rant and scream otherwise.
Quote: Also, the last "real" EVE expansion was RMR or so ... The rest were minor updates touted as "biggest expansion EVAH!".
Given that the expansions are not all that gets added, new ships, mods and skills are added without major expansions. so, while WOW players have to wait for a major expansion for their new toys, Eve gets them added all the time at no extra cost to the player.
You should either pay for online time + expansions or pay for expansions but not online time. Only a fool pays for both. Even Guildwars is free to play online once you've bought the game, you buy the expansions but it continues to be free to play.

The variable you've left out here is the quality/attractiveness of the game. Only a fool would pay both for GW or EVE, imagine paying $50 to have your boot.ini deleted (which is all that needs to be said about the quality of EVE "expansions")...
That said, most hardcore MMOers end up paying a lot more for EVE than they would for any other MMO, first because it is the only mainstream MMO with RMT and second because many players have between 2 and 7 or more accounts ...

I'm looking forward to laugh at the kiddies standing in the shops at 24 at night, having their excuses for school written by their mothers, just to play WoW all the time.

I was hoping WAR would smash WoW right in the teeth, but I doubt it even made a graze on the name. Currently WAR is a "fun" type game. My buddy says WoW feels like a second job. I think it's only a 'second job' if you make it one. Simply put there's nothing for him to do but reach for that epic "thing" that's far enough to tease players but not quite impossible. Ya know, the type of thing to keep the dog chasing the bone on a treadmill.
Maybe I'm not just an MMO person. I actually canceled my Eve sub and am on the so-so of resubbing. As far as WAR goes, maybe I'll ride it out until next year before Dawn of War 2 comes out. |

Wars been fun natured so far. My guild switched to the side of chaos after a few weeks and I've got a marauder and a magus (who I've made my main).
I've been enjoying the open rvr and scenarios alike and in a lot of cases I fall behind on questing because all I do is rvr all night. I also like that you can get some really nice drops off of the fallen s****you slaughter in combat.
What I don't like are all of the naked players running around. This ain't age of conan people. Got into an argument with a naked chosen the other night because he apparently didn't understand the definition of a tank as in tanks are heavily armored, naked people are referred to as the primary target and it doesn't help anyone else on the team when the healer has to spend all his time keeping a naked person alive. If you have 3+ naked people on your side you might as well leave because you have a snowballs chance in hell of winning.
It's also fun playing against the gullible. We had a tactic on order for the tier 2 elven scenario that was almost perfect. The goal of the scenario is to grab the opponents flag and take it back to your base hopefully with your flag still being there. Now if my friend and I were lucky we'd have a couple peeps watch our flag. What we would do is run to the opponents base, I would stealth, and he'd run right through the base. All the bad guys would see him and give chase leaving the flag wide open. I grab run back, and score points. Then we rinse and repeat and for some reason they never catch on.

Not really.
From what I can tell, it just looks like more of the same.

Yeah, I did have plans to buy it. But then... I just bought some game time and went back there (after a year). I leveled my rogue 44->67, and tbh the whole crap started to be boring already. I do have 70 mage as a main there, but the idea about grinding it, or the rogue to 80... I just dunno anymore.
If I want to see northrend, I might as well just walk outside this house after month or 2. Though no bony dragons or icy pigs there, if I don't count my strange neighbours. |
