offcourse these guys are trying to make profit, but its nowhere near what other devices are/where like, miner2s are an extreme example, but also some of the smaller devices and dmg mods are sold far 2 high... --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. Ive seen them a lot for around 8-9 million. Probably jumped up due to that big battle they had a while back, a lot of people seem to like them in fleet engagements. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

Hanns, how many people do you see flying in something else than a crow these days? Not many in any case. I think i'm one of the select few who (still) has and uses a malediction and crusader...
The fact that you want one, as illustrated by this very topic, shows that the demand for crows is still very high.....

if you don't wake up, i'll have to stop kissing you. all that flailing has made you sleepy. you rest while i untie you. stay here until they find you. People telling hanns to "oh well, go fly something else" need to get a clue. It is not an insignificant time investment to train an inty skill. Noone should be gouged out of the ability to fly their ship of choice. I agree that the costs to make them are high, and ccp needs to address the issue.
This game continually places all the new toys in the hands of agent runners, and to be frank, it's getting a little old.
There needs to be multiple ways of getting, bpo's components, implants, etc.
Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

Sell high for as long as the market can bear. Sounds like some players were taking advantage of capitalism at its best and selling to players that "had to have the latest and greatest".
This is the problem rather than give one sole BP out,and let corps take a strangle hold on the market, why not give out four or five, your just giving people the means to take "capitalism" to extremes!
You didnt see henry ford Charging $5000 dollars for a Model T christ they were so cheap they couldnt get them out of the factory fast enough!

Graviton reactors are rare and expensive. Some of the other comp0nents for the Caldari interceptors also cost a lot.
That, more than profits, is why they cost so much

Btw, crow's aren't really rare BPO wise. Of the registered corps in the interceptor thread on the market, it's actually the most readily available inty along with the crusader (and no one buys the last one :P).
I think it's just that so many players want it, and that the components for it become more rare because of the demand. Very simple market mechanics if you ask me.

In the USA it would be illegal to charge $50 for a pack of cigarettes. Its called price gouging.
I love how people who demonstrate a complete lack of knowledge about economics like to make crap up. Charging $50 for a pack of cigarettes would only be illegal if there was a sudden major supply shortage of cigs and someone tried to cash in on that fact. But if over time the supply remained ridiculously low, then price would meet demand. And then cigs would be $50 a pack and legally. If Winston decided tomorrow though that they wanted to charge $50 they could. No laws broken. Prices are set for premium profits though. Not because of the mythical universe you live in where you believe all things are dictated by the government. So that, more then anything else, is why cigs arent $50 a pack. Companies would lose money that way. I think that all MMOs that have player run economies need to start requiring a few econ classes before people can play.

Its supply and demand - and the manufacturers arenÆt 'greedy' their smart for making as much profit as they can - its called capitalism :)
Due to the way the supply of bpo's are controlled through agents the number of bpo's are limited hence typically little to no competition between manufacturers.
I would like to see all bpo's come onto the market as well as be available still through agent missions (so small corps still have a chance of owning one).
By making tech 2 bpo's expensive to buy, but available on the market, corps can still manufacture an item if they wish to invest the money which will depend on the demand within the market place.

I've heard a few people say that its to do with the componants needed to produce it, well thats rubbish, the raptor costs about the same (your looking at a max of a 500k price difference in build cost) Its a matter of taste.
More people play caldari than any other race Caldari is a race known for its missile skills Crow has more missile slot (and is generally better) than the raptor Crow costs 2-2.5 times the cost of the raptor
I think the question shouldn't be why are they selling them for so high, it should be why are you still buying them? Stop buying and then the sellers will start undercutting each other and drag the price down to normal. Personally, I believe that with the missile changes the amaar and galante frigs should be more popular ingame and I'm suprised that they aren't.

There are plenty of components around I get Caldari components all the time.
Most of the interceptors went for around 5mill at the time I started getting T2 components. I did a few BYOC deals and I know what is required to build interceptors.
So I set my component prices to a level where it would cost a producer 2.5mill in total to buy components from me and all the other bits needed. That gives the producer 2.5mill profit from 1 ship at the prices they were seeling for at the time.
I was told I was selling for too much because a producer ought to make at least 4mill from an interceptor to make it worth his time. That was for the other races as well not Caldari. Caldari interceptors were going for even more.
So to be honest now I don't bother I just give most of my stuff to the corp. There are tons upon tons of components in our hangers. The rest I cannot be bothered to haul get recycled. There are loads of components out there but I cannot be bothered selling a 1000 components for 1 million ISK.
