I was thinking about all the time lost in eve becouse of network/server issues. Yesterday i didn't play at all becouse i can only connect in the late evening and there were that network problem (this is just an example btw).
So i was wondering why CCP don't give us some free time for all the time we've lost during the years? Maybe even a gift ingame would be nice. This would just mean that CCP cares about their customers and we would all be a bit more happy :)

because.... *takes a deep breath*..... you agreed upon these possibilities, like disconnects, no access to the server, lost gametime etc. before you entered the game by accepting the EULA, point 11 & 12 if I'm correct.
Leaving you with 2 options: disagree with the EULA which means stop your account and delete EVE from your HD or... suck it up, like most of us do. Really.

I can answer that...
We lost at the very most 1 day of play... yesterday.
So, what you are basically asking for is to get 1 day playtime... Ok... so how to do this...
CCP could sweep through the database of subscriptions and add 1 day to all running subscriptions. See how this will effect us...
1. The continous player - The next subscription is coming one day later than expected. Still you pay for another 1 month at least. The impact is insignificant.
2. The quitter - The subscrition to the game you are quitting runs one day longer. You intended to quit anyway, so it is unlikely, that you will use that one day extra. Usually once the decision to quit is taken, the real playtime approaches zero... Again, no significant impact.
3. The undecided - Your subscription runs one day longer... you do not know, if you want to play EVE any longer or if you stop playing it... Wohoo, you get one extra day to decide it... will this one day help you in making a better devision ? Unlikely.
So the significance of another day of playtime is next to null. But the potential impact on such a database query is far higher.
I pesonally would rather see CCP to continue their work, do their best to keep such days rare and move on with the development of the game.
I am playing since 2004... in total, there is maybe 1 week of time lost due to irregular downtimes for me. One week in 4 years ? That is like... 4$ ? Oh yeah.. I want a refund
Be serious, guys. The compensation you are asking for is just for show.

I'm sure they've given refunds in the past when the server was down for a couple of days?
Or I might have mistaken that event for another game.

Apotheosis? They gave this shuttle to everyone (or so?) when they hit 5 years.
Time/acces is refunded/given back for services when uptime is used at 100% (e.g. hosting?) not to a service which happen to disfunction JUST when you wanted so desperately to use, and was ok the rest of the day.
If the servers were unusable for.. 1-2 days, maybe they'd consider adding 1-2 days to everyone, but not for a couple of hours.
Also, all those network problems did not interfere with 100% of the customers. As an example, the downtime happen at 7am for my timezone (EST5EDT). Everything was good when I got in game. Some people were asleep and woke up to play when everything was fixed.

They did it once a few years ago when the server was up and down like a yo-yo for about four or five days.
So we're not in that territory just yet.

Not to say that I agree with the OP here, but this argument irritates me every single time it's brought up. The EULA says that it's legally acceptable for CCP to do something. It does NOT mean that something being on the EULA means it shouldn't bother people. If CCP were to delete everyone's accounts, it would be perfectly acceptable according to the EULA. Would it then still be something that no one should complain about?
The above quote does not take into account the third option: Disagree with the EULA, and voice this disagreement in the hopes that something gets done. Will it? Pfft ya right, but it doesn't mean that the OP's complaint is invalid because of a set of rules set out by CCP that people treat as a holy text (though it is rendered invalid by the fact that it was one freaking day, really, do you want your $0.50 that badly?)
If you have a problem with something in eve you SHOULD voice your concern. Because even though many people are whiny b*tches it's a small price to pay for the few who make valid complaints that lead to real gameplay issues being fixed by CCP. If you have a problem with someone's argument refute the argument itself, don't use the fact that the whiner in question would not win a freaking court case were he to persue one because of a text file CCP puts up to cover their asses from lawsuits... |

Of course it would. CCP technically owns all our characters, we pay the subscription to access our account and the servers, nothing more. Of course, if such situation were to actually happen, we'd reserve the right to cancel our subscriptions.

How sad are the trolls? I'm not asking to get back the day i've lost yesterday, i don't care much about that. FYI i'm not asking for anything, I was just thinking that server/network issue happened several times during my years of play, but i never got anything back.
There are some nice points in the replies here btw, but the trolls are sadly everywhere.
PS The Apotheosis doesn't count that is for a whole different thing :P

I answered the Op's question: ''Why no refund for the time lost?'' I didn't say the OP could not complain. It just won't matter in this case.

Um.... Here is a quarter call your friend and tell them. Actually here is two quarters call them both.
Refund??? How much money do you think it cost to play per day? How about $.50 Yea thats right you just spent your stinking refund on the phone calls. Get over it and quit your whining. Next thing ya know you will want a refund for the time you cant play because you are sleeping.

Obviously you weren't going to play for the full 24 hours. So, presuming that things were down for 24 hours and you normally would have played for 4 of those hours, you're looking at 1/120th of your subscription. If you are using the year long subscription (and since it saves you $48/yr, why wouldn't you?) then you're looking at 1/120th of $10.95 -- which is $0.0912 (about 9 cents).
I understand that money is tight for a lot of people and that EVE may be one of their few leisure and relaxation outlets - and perhaps they have to sacrifice a few treats every month to even afford that. But then again, it's still only 9 cents worth of time that you really lost. That's not even two soda cans worth of refund/deposits. Is it really worth freaking out about?
Now, if that inconvenience was frequent and chronic over a period of time (a week, perhaps) then feel free to complain. But one day... come on.

Yes please let CCP give us all the time back we lost. And while we are talking about fairness right now, let us also pay for the time when the downtime is over early and for the expansions each time.
I meanhow can we ask for compensation while on the other side do not pay for that stuff CCP is developing.
People like you should think a bit before posting. Just a friendly advice.

They do not have to supply the game, the server, the website, your characters or anything. You pay them and if they feel nice they give you a game.
