Auto Pilot will NEVER warp you to 0, it removes all risk in ships like shuttles and inties when traveling through low sec, and much of the risk in 0.0 (short of a bubble camp, or rabid dictor/hictor).
The idiot who mentioned that "all of the people who like useless time sinks"....seriously? 30 seconds of your life? Its not about the time sink Mr. Brain Trust, its about EFFORT, and the need to actually have you at your keyboard for it to be safe to move around. The need for the PLAYER TO DO SOMETHING, in a game that already automates a lot of what is needed for you to do.
Jesus dude, its like you don't even think before your fingers start stumbling across the keyboard.
you my friend is the idiot here , 30 secs of my life ? what game are you playing ? most of the things in eve require the player to be present ,there is no auto play button , so its 30 secs here and 30 secs there and another 30 here , it adds up , and the next thing you know ,it takes 3 hours to do something you could do in half hour . this is a game after all ,most of us want to have fun while playing one way or the other , and doing useless stuff just takes the fun away .
with that said i have to say that about wtz on autopilot i really dont give a ****, i rarely use the auto pilot anyway .

It would be kinda cool if you could access your ships systems for a minute before undocking. Your ship, being plugged into the stations powergrid and sensors, would be able to see the surrounding space via the station's systems. Different stations could have varying levels of sensor abilities and so on.
Auto WTZ though...that would never fly given the hunger of the pirate players for things to shoot at.

I've always wondered why every space station is complete and intact and not a single one is ever having maintenance or construction going on.
If you want autopilot WTZ, then why not have the time of travel calculated, and then a black screen for the duration, and then pop into destination system? Why have to endure the visuals/sounds of space travel?
Why every faction tolerates wardecced ships ganking each other at major trade hubs? As if nothing is happening and its business as usual.

This is purposeful to give an advantage for at-the-keyboard flying, vs AFK flying. Personally I support it.

It was easier to implement a short period of invulnerability for your ship when you undock than it was to address the issue of seeing space while inside the station. If they ever do let you see outside, then the invulnerability period should be taken away... and when that day comes, the covert ops pilot shall rejoice.
Quote: If this was real life, I start a company to invent warp-to-zero autopilots and windows for your stations. I'd be rich!
once upon a time you could not warp to zero manually even. We all flew 20k past a gate and made manual bookmarks so we could "warp to 20k" to the bookmark which landed us onto a gate. This led to so many database items from all the bookmarks ( I had over 30,000 myself ) that they added the feature of 'warp to zero' and deleted all the gate-bookmarks (or most anyway). The bookmark sales were quite lucrative while it lasted. I know i spent hundreds of millions on mine....
but as to real-life comparisions, they are just a bad idea as in general they are non-prodcutive.

30 seconds of invulnerability are supposed to be usefull if you are lagging, but for real that time is used to see if it is safe out there and just redock if it is not. So i agree: give us the ability to see outside the station.
About the warp to zero while using autopilot: i agree but this is not RL and you have to give some chances to makes fights happen. If WTZ on autopilot would be introduced, then a time delay before you can jump should be too (and that don't changes things that much).
Sry for my bad english, i hope you can understand that.

On the note of the windows in space stations; I would rather have the ability to access a standard station 360 scanner at a certain stength so that some subtifuge can still be had - stronger when narrowed to ascertain the relative space around the station.
Station Scanner would work a treat

Edited by: Julius Rigel on 01/11/2008 03:37:30 If this was real life I could bloody well fit more circuits and processors on my Vigil to accommodate a faction 100mn microwarpdrive.
But alas, this is not real life I think.

I must admit not being able t see what is outside the station is is sad.
But also funny. Why.
Cause if PvP'rs would actually PvP then CCP would NOT have to force people to PvP.
And as ALL carebears live in high-sec in which the mechanic means nothing. Therefore it is a mechanic for low-sec and 0.0 Where all the PvP'rs are

ccp don't blindly follow the 'majority' of the playerbase in their decisionmaking, nor do they entirely follow the money. you wouldn't see the hugely-unpopular (yet badly needed) speed changes go in if they did.
thankfully, seems to have no problem with confronting the status quo when that is causing the overall health of the game to suffer.
