I am actually posting this on behalf of a friend who's account is currently permabanned. He has put in a petition several days ago to enquire as to the circumstances of the ban and as his account is not active he cannot post here directly.
Basically, what he is curious to know is whether or not an account can be 'un-banned' or not? Is it permanent?
No flaming please, way too early in the morning. I know not the details of the circumstances anyway.

"Permabans" are handed out during investigation periods. So it's possible its still under investigation he will get it reduced/removed.

Thank you for the swift reply. I know he will be reading these forums later and that might cheer him up a bit.

Aye, that's also true! It has been several days since he put in the petiton but he had to do it via the non account route. I persoanlly have heard this takes longer to get looked at by the GM's. Not sure though.
Anyway, thanks for the response. o7

About bans, i'd hope to receive a mail explaining the situation, if I was ban. Does he have any idea why he's been ban? -Angel |

No, he recieved no email regarding the permaban.
What I do know is that he was away working for several months and his step son allowed the account details to be known to a friend. Bang. Account gone and being used by someone else.
He comes home and can't log in. Petitions and a senior gm resets his account for him after he proves his ownership of the account. After almost a week the account is suddenly permabanned. That's all the info I know about the situation. Personally I'd have put my foot up his step sons ass tbh.

i personally know an idiot who brought a chr off of ebay. had the account banned. but through a loop hole. transfered the chr.
he also had his other account perma banned untill he saw his credit card bill. ccp had billed him for his account and had to give him his account back.
Sometimes hings work out.
personally i think he shoulda stayed perma banned and not gotten off lightly..

CCP does reverse perma-bans on rare and special occasions.
You must provide strong evidence in your favor however and I recommend being very polite.

Well, you take from one of their own. There was once a dev named T20. He cheated in the vilest sense of the word. Supplied bpo's to bob as well as information on upcoming changes. T20 didn't even lose his job. So, there is hope for your friend. I am thinking he should probably invest in kneepads.

Don't think its clarified but are you allowed new accounts if your banned? (They'd never know if it was you via ETCs but if you paid via C/Cs...)

some reasons permabans have been handed out over the years: 1.buying from Ebay 2.being an ISK farmer 3.RL threats to another player, like that ginger idiot 4.using someone elses account without permission 5.hitting an CCP member of staff in a drunken rage at fanfest,ok kidding,we were ALL DRUNK,and no hitting(the dev was more drunk than us lol) 6. exploiting an exploit in the game after being told not to exploit it because the patch for the exploit was not out yet 7. multiple non-permabans,which will get you a perma ban 8. exploiting game mechanics when you know not to,like tricking noobs into agrressing you in starter systems

no, we were all too drunk lol,6 players,2 devs, all round one standing table, talking about everything and drinking like mad, excellent night
then we went out for food(it was freezing cold) and as we left hotel we saw a car pull up outside,a geezer jumped out, took all his clothes off and ran about in the snow like a crazy man having just escaped from a looney hospital
Doing fanfest at least once is a must, and it would not be the same if it was ever held anywhere except Iceland

Not true. At least if there is a 'permanent' ban in place when they are investigating whatever it is they are investigating when you try to log in, you get a msg saying something like, Duration:Permaban.
Its not necessarily true that there is then no chance of regaining your account(s).
To the OP, your friend will just have to wait to hear back from the GMs. I think petitions about bans will be handled by a Senior GM which means an extended wait for a reply. So grab a copy of Fallout3, FarCry2 or dead space, play that for a couple weeks and see what happens.

There are very few things to get permabanned for....and once happens....its time to find a new game.
My thoughts of the matter are, if he did somthing so bad to get permabanned then you should'nt ever be allowed back. |

Hmm I have heard of something similar, where a EULA violation took place and CCP kept making different decisions as to what to do about it. A previous poster was right, this is a grey area so if you just keep phoning them day after day they will probably give in eventually.
Although, based on previous posts of this type made in this forum....waiting for GM XYZ to appear and give us the REAL story in 3... 2... 1...

This is your friend's problem here. By sharing his account details, even with his family, he is violating the EULA, and CCP doesn't like that. This is the reason why CCP doesn't like it when you do this anyways. You share your account details, and your account's security is compromised. Some other idiot does something wrong on your account, and you get blamed for it. It isn't fair, but that's life for you. YOU are responsible for your own account's actions, no matter who is behind the wheel. That's why you should NEVER share account details, unless you are prepared to pay the price.
