I work five days per week and only have maybe 4-6 hours to invest in Eve per week, and only if I want to pew-pew in some spaceships. Some weeks I prefer to spend my time doing something in RL like seeing friends or exercising. Yeah, very atypical of an Eve player.
But it sucks that I have to pay $15 per month, the same amount as a hardcore, basement-dweller who can sink 12+ hours per day into the game. Obviously the basement-dweller is getting much more utility out of his dollars than I am. This especially hurts if you choose to run with alt accounts. I can't really justify spending $30-$45 per month on a game that I might play for only 20 hours.
Can CCP look at alternative methods of paying or subscribing to the game? I'd rather go F2P and pay for "premium" content that I can use at my convenience. |

Hmmmm, Star Trek is kinda too girly for me. I have an account on LOTRO which is F2P + MT, but I prefer my sci-fi and Eve's nastiness, as evidenced in this thread. |

Actually I wouldn't mind a skill-train penalty in exchange for a discount. 50% for 50% sounds fair. |

Serious? You basically turn your nose up at other people who play this game, then ask for their support for you to play at a cheaper rate? $30-45 a month, is 2-3 accounts. Sorry that's not what I'd describe as a super casual player. Quit whining and go play with your kiddie friends and take a long jump off a short pier. (in game) |

Make lots of isk and give it to me and I will buy a plex for you. Now your wish is granted, your game is free to play.
I too work 5 days a week, sometimes with overtime. I also go to school for the last 3 workdays while I study during the other 4 days (and sometimes that isn't even enough time). I leave the house before first light and I get home well after dark. Sometimes I don't even get to log in and play for a given week. But I've never felt that the price was unjustified. 4-5 hours a week comes out to 12-15 hours a month which equates to roughly $1 an hour. How many other hobbies can you think of that are that cheap. |

To the OP: You have to realize what your getting for that 15 a month your only getting 20 hours out of. Unlike in other MMO's where you have to play to progress in levels, EVE has the benefit of offline training. This means your not falling behind skill wise of a hardcore player (not counting implants). Even if you have less expensive equipment (which isn't as important as skills if you know how to fit ships effectively) you can still run with fleetmates in whatever they do. In WoW, if you fall behind buddies in level, then your S.O.L. . I won't get into how F2P can go horribly wrong in a system built on P2P, but rest assured EVE is not the place for that. It's the other way around. My dollars subsidise the "hardcore" players who play many more hours than I do, yet I pay the same rate.

If you can only shell out 20h of gametime each month, than you don't need 2-3 accounts.
Also, they should create this kind of subscription where special people like you: - would need to pay 50 cents for using gates and docking into stations - would need to pay 75 cents to pull missions and use industry/medical/LP store facilities - won't be able to train skills when logged out of EVE - shooting and reloading the guns/missile bays would cost 1 cent - changing fits would cost 10 cents |

you are always free to play more. noone is forcing you to play just 4-5 hours a week, noone is forcing you to play 2-3 accounts at the same time during that... You pay for access to this game, the servers, all your stuff being stored etc. A lot of that is being used by you even when you arent online (can ccp delete your stuff after you go offline?? ). Its definately your choice if you want to use the ability to play this game for the full 716 hours you could every month or if you just use 20 of those.
If 20 hours of your hobby arent worth 30-45 dollars each month then just reduce the number of accounts or stop playing eve completely...
to ccp: i know deleting stuff always sucks, so as soon as he gives you the ok to delete his stuf every time he logs off, why dont you just move all of his possessions to me instead. I'll gladly pay each month for you keeping track of "his" stuff as soon as it belongs to me. |

One way you can look at this is, yes, you actually get to play - as in fly around in your space ship - or do some PI - or - a few hours a month. HOWEVER, your character TRAINS 24/7. So you can look at it from the perspective that your character is still playing the game, even though you are not. Worth the money, in my opinion. |

That little play time is hardly worth the subscription fee. They are not going to change their subscription service for people that have little time. That would be like telling your cable/satellite company you only watch XXX amount of television per week and you want a price break. Won't happen. Your choices are to bot to support your account(s) and take the risk of losing them, quit the game, or keep paying. |

Hell no to F2P, it's a terrible idea that's been shot down time and time again.
What I would say yes to is plexs in lower amounts, even as low as 1 day plexs. That way those that are all "waaaaaaa tis unfair" can get their "I'M ON AND CONTRIBUTING!!!" although then you'll cry about the lack of skill training. |
