Ability to rate Public Contracts
Its very common to see contracts that are deliberately misleading. Such as selling a raven and mislabeling it as a Navy Raven, Or a Vextor as a Navy Vextor, even going as far as naming the ship Navy Vextor to give it a false appearance.
Heres an idea, the ability to flag a contract with a thumbs up or thumbs down. Such as the way many popular sites allow u to thumbs down comments in for videos.
This wouldn't stop you from buying the item just give u an idea that something is up...
But u could add a filter to skip contracts with lots of thumbs down if you wish. *********** Dasfry, Director Demio's Corporation

Edited by: Sir Substance on 07/11/2008 09:58:29 ya, id like it.
id also like capacity for each person do put a flag on a dodgy dealer. one flag per account, so you cant (in theory, alt account bypass this, but it still limits it a bit) flag more then one person at a time. flag disappears of sub is invalid.
reason being i was bidding on a fenrir BPC a while ago, and the chap was using an alt to bid me up, i know because it had an odd ME PE and when i let his alt have the contract, it went back up as soon as the auction ended, from the same guy.
id dearly love to be able to flag him. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

sounds nice, but then you can rate it as positive too.
so at the end it wouldn't make a difference
P.S. too many friends in game that could boost a fake contract

then lets make it really simple. no positive rating. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

I picture the majority of contracts to be neutral ratings. *********** Dasfry, Director Demio's Corporation

Community moderation always leads to this, and this only.
You have your officer module in Jita. You look to see what the going prices are. You undercut some older contracts. One particular contractor checks his and finds you've undercut him. He's a member of a 2000+ man alliance. He says in alliance "hey, everyone go into contracts and flag and downrate this jerk that's undercutting me." Five minutes later, your contract has been downrated 500 times and you've been flagged as a scammer so hard even the GMs are wondering a little. Petition shenanigans ensue.
But, here's a good suggestion. Before you accept a contract you should read the entire thing. It works for real life, and it works for EVE.

Is it too much for buyers to pay attention? You cannot make everything stupid-proof.

Aye, but doing something like that should be considered a harrassment, if the contract is legit and not a scam in any way, and we know CCP don't like harrassments.

Edited by: Cheopis on 09/11/2008 10:23:51 If you want a way to rate contracts that won't be abused, well, you will have to leave the players at least partly out of the rating process.
I gave some thought to this in the past, and the only way I can think of that would make and sense would be to have a little button on the contract to have the server rate the contract based on a two-week scale. Note - this would NOT be free! Charge 100,000 ISK to rate a contract, reduce it by 15% per level of contracting (or some other new skill), and once one person has rated it, everyone can see it.
Example:
Contract says "Caldari Navy Raven" 250 million isks
open contract, see "Raven"
click "rate contract"
The server then compares the item in the contract to what the average 14 day value of that item is. The rating then pops up as 400% over two-week average (or whatever)
Allow an option to ignore contracts with ugly ratings.
It's player driven, can't be player abused, and isn't free.
