Edited by: Hurdle Jumper on 09/11/2008 07:33:05 Hi.
I mine and drink beer in lowsec for my Alliance. Big roids are nice, but however I look at it, it's better to AFK mine in highsec, buy the difference in minerals, and deal with the hassles of transporting that difference to our lowsec area for manufacturing.
I feel there should be some bonus for those who have grown a pair and play with the big boys. I also feel that lowsec should, in general, be an industrial paradise with risk... but that is a broader issue.
So, can you consider making a blanket bonus on all mining lasers that are running in lowsec? Something noticable like, 20% less cycle time? That same bonus, or more could go to 0.0 I guess. This change only affects miner pilots, and I don't think it will make a significant difference to the mineral market because true carebears won't be coming down here anyway.
Also, add more Pyerite to refinement of Jaspet please. For a lowsec only ore, it's really not that valuble. Also, I'm always running low on Pyerite; Our region is mainly served by Scordite and there isn't that much of it around.
xoxox
Edit: reasons given on both points.

I like this idea. Mining beam cycle times should be reduced to 10 seconds in low sec and 1 second in 0.0. In low sec mining crystals should have a yield multiplier of 10 and in 0.0 a multiplier of 100 and more. Also we need a module that points the way to WoW and Hello Kitty. Farjung is my God

I don't see this happening.
The reason is that when mining, the server must track the status of the asteroid after every cycle. When it's at 0 ore, poof, it's gone. The server then needs to update the universe and remove that roid.
If you increase cycle speed, the server has to be queried more often.
You would probably have to hold a gun on the Dev team for them to willingly change mining so that it takes up more of the server's processing capacity.

computers, they do not find lookup queries hard.
the added stress of this on the servers will be three fifths of **** all. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Cycle time needs to have 90% lopped off, at least. Obviously, same with the yield and cap use.
I have no idea what possessed someone to make a mining laser take a MINUTE to retrieve ore... longer for strip miners... ------------------

I like this idea. Lets say 20% reduction in Low-Secure, 30% reduction in 0-Secure.
The impact on database activity would be negligible.
No need to increase warp time. This would actually be a bonus for player-pirates as they might actually get some targets to shoot at.

i think it is a very good idea. because indeed as it is not it is almost not profitable to mine in low sec except your in an uber gang with a rorqual orca lots of hulks and LOTS of protection.
