Fix reprocessing. Really, just nerf that skill into the ground and make it less profitable to go with dicking about loot tables and making useless the Noctis (as without BS meta-loot taken in Tyrannis, over all NPC loot will drop income even more making this ship useless unless you get meta 4 cruiser items and BS guns...everything else is pretty much worthless but those items are still hard to comeby)
Its known that X module has Y amount and easy to predict the value, but you want Hulk miners and industrialists to finally get some backbone control over the economy. Best way to fix this, is to reduce the value of a module and focus on the value of the minerals at the bottom. Currently, you can build then reprocess the module for pretty much the same value...only if the value drops for the actual item below the mineral cost can a profit be made by reprocessing a module (Basicly reprocessing follows the concept of bailing up cardboard in the real world, you can tie up a ton of cardboard and ship it, then snip the wires and get the same amount back as what was put in...you lose a minute amount in game doing this but its negligible once you hit perfect refine). By cutting the amount of value from reprocessed modules (50% would be a good starting point), you will easily be reducing the value of the module after refining, but leaving the full value of a built module.
Only ores and compressed ores along with ice should give full value returned, modules should give less back then what was put in them.
tl;dr - Build an item for X amount minerals - Reprocess same item, get 50% of minerals back (applies to both meta zero and 1-14) - Pure Ore, Compressed Ore, and Ice give back full value - Repurpose the ORE industrial skill and Noctis - its a ship that can compress ore like the Rorq, Rorq just has more then that single utility) |

+1 for great idea. Really. I know a lot of people would not like it but I think it would be good for the economy. CCP really please dont use Upgraded, Limited, Experimental-áand Prototype in item names. It sounds like the item is actually worse than basic meta 1 item. Use Calibrated, Enhanced, Optimized and Upgraded. Its really easy to understand that the item is better than meta 1 and its also in alphabetic order. |

Isn't nuking mineral compression going to make it even harder to do anything industrial in nullsec? |

Not if they do something like add super veld or make a null sec only mining laser or crystal that can suck up twice as much veld as normal. |

that I don't have the isk for a jump freighter yet, and mining is about as much fun as gargling broken glass and razor blades? |

People do industrial things in nullsec? Since when?
I thought we just ratted and refined the random item drops. WIth the new Scrap Metal drops replacing the Meta 0 items that's going to make doing that even easier. |

Danika Princip wrote:Isn't nuking mineral compression going to make it even harder to do anything industrial in nullsec? I didn't say nuke compression, I said nuke modules. From what I understand, a 425m Hybrid railgun meta 0 gun holds more minerals the anything else in game compared to standard compression of a single ore for its size. As it is, owning a Rorq to compress minerals is pretty stupid since you can just build X item for X mineral, Y item for Z / Q mineral, and yet the entire compression skills are not even used. I rarely see compressed ore for sell, because minerals in modules are way more useful.
Only ORES AND ICE should have full refining values, so you should be moving only ORE AND ICE. The entire compression thing (which is why I said using the Noctis to repurpose into a sub-crusher, since looting will be even less useful now) can be looked at. Make ORE COMPRESSION more useful, make REFINING MODULES less useful is what I am implying. CCP can go back and rechange the ore compression values / sizes of compression blocks, but once a module is built it should be built for that exact purpose and if you have no need for it it should produce less modules when you refine it (like extending aggro in combat, once you commit to building a module it should stay commited as its use).
Entire point though, was to make missioning even less profitable . Once CCP starts, might as well f*ck it up completely . CCP can make 100m3 Trit block that hold 200,000 Trit or a 10m3 Megacyte block with 4500 all I care, just put mission income into the ground already and get it over with. |

The reason you never see compressed ore/ice for sale is because the smart people refine it BEFORE putting it on the market. (you get more money that way) |

better value in sales for minerals uncompressed (from ores)
and not everyone has a rorqual
Mineral compression in module form makes it easier to move things to build carriers/dreads in lowsec, and a good many other things,

Clearly you don't know what some people use the noctis for. Come back when you know about more than missioning and mining. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |
