is this possible?
me and my pals have two corps (long story) and we placed a POS in gallente space simply because that's where we had the best standings when we wanted to place it. however, we live and play mostly in caldari space and we want to move the POS up there. our standings with caldari suck, but we were wondering if it would be possible for a char who grinds up caldari standing to place a POS and then transfer it somehow to our other corp, bypassing the standings rule.
any insight would be great appreciated

No, but you can trade your corporation and then anchor the tower.

POSs are anchored as a corp asset, therefor not transferable to another corp without unanchoring -------------------------------------------

Another option is to invite that person into your corporation, everybody leaves except for an alt with no standing and wait for the standing to raise.

This is why I think there should be some sort of Corporate Merger mechanic. Of course, I dont' think it should be able to get around the standings mechanic, as i feel that mechanic as is is heavily abused. I think there should be at LEAST an operational penalty for running a POS you don't have the standings to maintain.

Guess how this mechanic could be abused ;)

Heavily abused because it sucks pretty much. No real corp can have a highsec POS if they had to keep the standings all the time, only research alt corps. _____________________________

Agreed, but this is why I think more work needs to be done to enable to sale of POS based services, so that the corps that DO work together to get the standings up can use those standings as a source of income, by selling their POS services to those who don't.
There is a risk factor involved, by wardec and such, because non-corp assets would be stored/processed at the POS. However, what if there was a mechanic in which a POS's clients could help to protect a POS under attack. If a corp has jobs in another corps POS, and the POS is under attack, the renters have the oppurtunity to defend their assets, and are able to fire on the attackers. (kill rights granted only while on the same grid as beseiged POS).

When you bring Sovereignty into the equation you open up another whole nest of wasps with any change that means POSs can change corp hands whilst up. --

This is easy enough to work around, as you can easily have it clear the sovereignty flag when changing hands, and add a restriction to the number of flags that can be set in a system a day (just as there is a limit to anchoring towers).

and what happens to every process that was running in the POS
reactions lab jobs manufacturing jobs moon mining refining
who owns the outcome/jobs the new corp?
If the new corp owns the jobs then that would mean also transferring all S&I jobs to a new corp and person.
If they are cancelled who gets the BPO/BPCs back?
It's not as easy as you might think, whilst you would think a corp would stop all the above and make sure they have back their stuff it needs to be coded for when espionage comes into play. --

Those are valid questions. I would think that in line with the real world, production line doesn't stop when corporations merge. Aircraft doesn't stop flying when airlines merge. Stock trading doesn't stop when corporations are merged.
Need I go on?

I might have missed some points but my view is, there's nothing wrong with the system as is, get or buy in faction standings put up a POS,,,if you want to move to a different faction area, rinse and repeat.... |

Bingo ;)
It's a complex enough mechanic, and there are a HEAP of other things they need to fix with POS's first unfortunately. _____________________________

To put up high sec POSs? Go look in the for sale forum (you might have to go a few pages back, but there's loads). |
