I just saw this article on Gamasutra: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21033
Looks like they will be upgrading the lighting and possibly "Walking in Stations" next March. ----------------------- CEO Militech Armaments Corp |

Walking in Stations has been stated is not part of the "expansion" cycle, and won't be in M10, but could be deployed between M10 and the winter expansion, as Hilmar stated that WIS will be deployed in 2009.

what a load of crap
I want them to finally utilise all the stuff they have already put into the game. for instance:
planetery vehicles small arms slaves janitors There's even dogs 'slaver hounds' that are good for absolutely nothing. etc etc..
When is planetary conquest finally coming ? That is one of the coolest things EVER. Right now, you as a player can never have a true home or feel any kind of relation with a 'place'.. We all have items all over the place, but none of them is 'home'
They should just let ppl colonize planets or even moons. It would make for a much more interesting environment. |

All of that is still in concept. The focus right now, with Ambulation and all, seems to be in getting around to core components of their original concept for EVE rather than more of the already well-developed components.
That is, building out rather than up.
For now.
With the exception of the coming March expansion.

no way, the idea is they lead to 0.0 space, so having them in high sec will be awesome.

No, hinted about sometime next year tho
What I found interesting was that near the end of the "Enlighten" part of the Wis presentation the Geomerics guy said, "you can start to imagine what sort of interiors can be created by CCP's artists who will have a very strong, large team working on this for nine months.".
If that's the time line they are looking at, 9 months from March'09 is December'09. So WiS may very well be the "winter expansion".

WIS is separate, the team already exists, and there are no timelines that start after this expansion is deployed, etc. We even got to see all the team members (at the time) when we were at the making WIS presentation (different from the one where the geomerics guy was).

give motherships a reinforced mode like poses, giving them an hour or so of time to be rescued, something to actually justify their gigantic cost.

Yes - reward will reflect risk to a large degree. You want rich stuff in empire where you can access it safely? And you can't see what's wrong with that? If super-rich wormholes where accessible from empire, you really think that would hold back veteran players? The competition will alwaysx be toughest where the most money is to be made. And the gankers will come just to find easy targets.
But mainly you are wrong in thinking that 0.0 is only populated by veterans. Plenty young chars around. If you want to have access to 0.0 you can - get your corp into an alliance or join an alliance corp. It's not that hard.
Originally by: Eddy Vasquez - T3 ships with customization. I've dreamed of customized ships since i started eve. Well, actually more like custom textures and stuff, or meta lvl hulls/engines/capacitor. Anyways, how could this possibly work? If you're going to bring customized ships to EVE, you would have to make ALL ships like that, wouldn't ya?
Why? Also with T3 you don't take regular ships and customize them with textures or anything like that. T3 ship designs can be assembled from 5 compartments (drive, bridge, whatever) that have 5 variations each - for each of the 4 races. The exact combination of compartments determines your slots, bonuses, etc... The compartments also look differently so you get various ship modules out of the combinations. Best to watch the fanfest video (see ccpgames channel on youtube).
Originally by: Eddy Vasquez Well, not if you are CCP with it's fable for the veteran playerbase.
Well - many veterans here whine about how CCP only really caters to new players so I guess with everybody whining things must be pretty balanced. :-)
Originally by: Eddy Vasquez All others have to use the T1/T2 crap off the shelf while the skilled folks can use nice customized vessels ...
T3 is not even out yet and you already know that T1/T2 is crap? T1 is still viable. T2 mods are not always worth the extra money they cost.
Originally by: Eddy Vasquez - New industry for 3 ... well. I guess T3 is needed since T2 is messed up with those T2 bpo's, right?
Nope. Invention made BPOs almost irrelevant. Sure owning a BPO is more convenient and provides a bit less construction cost - but most of the market volume is due to invented BPCs and they determine the prices by their much larger supply. BPOs have a max output in a given timeframe - but an inventor can make more BPCs - the limit is the availablity of labs. Empire labs have been perma-busy ever since invention arrived and there are whole POSs that only exist to host labs.
Originally by: Eddy Vasquez I'm just afraid that another bunch of stuff will mess up general balancing even more (both, industry and pvp sides).
Things are mostly balanced. And there will never be a time when the whole game is perfectly balanced. Too complex to ever achieve that and - yes - every patch will mix it up again.
Originally by: Eddy Vasquez Personally, i would be really fancy for a patch without any new stuff, rather than have the current stuff balanced. And there IS a lot of mods/ships/ammo/production time to be looked at. It would be much easier to bring new stuff into a healty base!
Not really.
Originally by: Eddy Vasquez People say i'm whining to much. To invalidate this: I don't see any problems with epic storyline missions or better NPC AI
:-)
I'd like a better PC NI - but it's beyond CCP to deliver that. ;-) --- Save the forum: Think before you post. ISK BUYER = LOSER EVE TV- Bring it back!

They will lead to the same kind of systems, regardless of where the wormhole pops up — it doesn't exactly matter if you come from 0.0 or 1.0 if the system the wormhole leads to is as dangerous to everyone who enters it.
These are not exploration sites inside your whatever-sec system — these are gates to new systems that aren't on the map and which will probably have a sec rating of roughly minus eleventy bajillion. You can't "access the rich stuff safely" from empire because you need to leave your safe empire system to go through the wormhole to get to the stuff… and since we're talking about "unstable wormholes", there's no telling if you can safely jump back to the same spot once you go through.

I understood during the presentationvideo i saw, they were also looking on tabbing the clients in one client. From what i understood you could open more the one account in one client and switch between then and not having the same channels and stuff running. ---- eXceed Inc.

I actually had a post on this in my alliance forum expanding on that topic as proposed by others. I like the idea of a mobile pos that can be anchored anywhere in space while giving the same functions as a station (menus in space similar to how carriers are accessed by the fleet). Also, had the idea to change fighters to CAP support (while in POS mode) and unable to warp away from the station. Had a bunch of other ideas but I really don't see CCP making these kinds of changes.
Meh, its good to dream though. |

Actually, my understanding is that htey were optimizing the game so that when you have multiple clients running, all the stuff they have in common is shared at the memory level. That would mean alot less memory used and some less cpu/gpu, overall, substantially improved perfomance when running multiple clients.

This is correct. WiS/Ambulation has a total seperate Dev Team.
Some cool things for WIS: - Your own scripted NPC's/Bots - Ingame self-made(moderated) videos shown on walls in bars/hallways

Also, for the M10 expansion ( I like that name )
Some things Rivqua forgot: - With the new exploration/new local mechanic, there will also be a new Probing mechanic. - Eve will be released in box form again in Stores in USA/Europe - New improved new-gamer-experience to lessen the big climb upwards a high mountain called Mount EO. - They're working on a new improved API. The new API server will also be totally seperate from the Tranquility database, so the strain will lessen and we will be allowed to pull more data. - They're working on a new improved IGB. (In Game Browser) It wil be based on the Webkit engine. Javascript should be enabled, but not plugins like flash. They're looking into it to keep the old functionalities like IGB tags.
Some rumours: - Each race will have its own tutorial/starting storyline - New races (enemy or player races? => unknown)
I'm skeptic myself to see how much they say is gonna released. But don't forget that at Fanfest they showed us that they put EVERYTHING and EVERYONE back at the Eve-Online project and to work dedicated for the M10 expansion. (CCP had a lot of other projects running to spread their risk, as any good company does.)

Exploration = Probing, I figured people understood that it was going to be changed :9 Retail = Read again it's there ;-)
New User Experience = I guess they will utilize the storyline system for that aswell? Didn't hear it, but will add it as a rumour to the list. API & IGB. I heard about it, but did never get it confirmed that it was going to be coincided with M10, but just upgrades they were planning in the spring in general, ie, not a feature-list item.
Yeah, they mentioned "New Races" very abstractly, but also firmly that it was comming. but when? noone knows, maybe winter exp ?

Answer:
Originally by: Eve-Online Official Press Release
The boxed version of EVE Online will include the game client, 60 days of subscription time and exclusive extras. It will also include all nine previously released EVE Online expansions. All new expansions will be free of charge to all subscribers, continuing CCP's release policies.
Is there a way for existing players to get "exclusive extras" without paying for a new alt in a box? --
