Not a true cloak, per se, as the ship is still visible in space.
What the Mask does is disguise the signature of the ship as another ship type (i.e. a Hauler as a BS or a BS as a frigate, ect). A pilot can still look at the ship in space and see what it is.
High Slot Module 50 TF 150 PG 30 second cycle time & refresh duration.
The mask maintains the spoofed ship signature until the cloaked ship activates an aggressive module on any target whereupon the Mask deactivates and the ship shows up properly on the overview. Launching drones will not deactivate the Mask, but it will give the target a good idea that the ship is something other than is being displayed. It does not change any characteristic of the ship, it is merely a transponder spoof.
How to choose what is masked: Open up the market, select a ship, select 'recalibrate transponder codes'.
T1 Masks spoof T1 ships. T2 Masks spoof all ships.
It will also display a ship as its spoofed type on scans (but the signature remains that of the original ship).
Gang Masking Module (Information Warfare ganglink): Masks the entire fleet on the host ship's grid as a single selected ship type. Ships engaging targets are unmasked and remain so for 60 seconds after they cease combat.
Using modules such as ship scanners, mining lasers, salvagers, and tractors do not affect the Mask, but engaging NPCs disengages all masking effects.

So... Whats this for again?
You mean the gate campers wont attack you if you jump the gate while in an industrial, and look like a carrier?
And for what again?
ohhhhh you want to ride a falcon, and look like a drake. I see what you are getting at... might be interesting enough. -------------------> Riding the missiles! |

Edited by: Mister Xerox on 14/11/2008 01:43:47 Actually... it has a host of uses.
Masking your gatecamping BS as a hapless hauler... or masking your vulnerable hauler as a Huginn when you know the raider runs from them. Or masking your Titan as a Tristan when you're setting up an OP in a system with Cov Ops spies.
The possible applications are limitless, but it does not hide your ship, or affect it's ability to fight. All it does is make it look different to the ship's computer.
{Edit} Actually, this could be a viable fix for all of the 'cloaking farmers'... if you remove the ability to cloak from ships not classed for it, allowing them to use this quasi-cloak instead. Hunters can still look for them, and find them, but they have to wonder if that Moa on their scan is really a Moa and not mtzlplx in a Raven.

I like the idea.
Imagine the kind of havok it would cause if a bunch of noobships jumped in but the overview and probed registered them as battleships.
Great for feigns.
Having a fleet of BSes showing up as frigates would also be useful, watch the carnage as they try to level destroyers and cruisers against you. -So says Xindi Kraid
