Recently alot of long standing members in my corp have started thinking of changing career in EvE, they have been around for a while and have decided to take a different path in order to experience the full scope that this game has to offer. However as many of you know, most people train their characters for specific things, be it mining or combat.
But what happens when you choose to dip your toe in the preverbial pool? Well you have two choices, use the same character which probably isnt trained to cope well with these new skills, or start a new character which means starting all over again, and to be honest most people will not be bothered to learn everything all over again!
On this note, and probably putting some backs up, i suggest that CCP think about introducing skill unlearning. Similar to Planetside, you gather SP of course but should you wish then you can unlearn lvl's of each skill, only 1 lvl at a time and this will take a set amount of time to unlearn (based on skill lvl of course). This SP then can be transferred to another skill of your choice. However the Attributes/Learning skills cannot be changed. Afterall there has to be a balance somewhere.
Its just a suggestion, tell me what you think ... -----------------------------------------------

Eve is not Planetside.
Eve is a roleplaying game. Planetside simply a shooter.
It's enough admission to the players already, that they can learn a new career with the same character at any given time without having to abandon their prviously learned skills and potentially over time become an expert-in-all-trades. But to achieve perfection in a skill, they should have to go through the same time like everyone else who trained it.

No because, as Ive said before, skill points should be a measure of your progress but not some sort of currency.
Oh, and for what its worth, Eve is heavily RPG-centric, but its a hybrid if there ever was one. Thats why the devs are trying to make BS's less uber, for instance. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

I think people should be able to unlearn skills.. but the skill points would be lost.
Why would anyone do that?
Sharpshooter skill. Higher levels of that skill substantially lower the damage output on certain weapons.

That would be like opening a door with TNT when you left the key stuck inside.
If some skills should carry negative effects, it would be better to make the use of them optinal - i.e. have an option during battle if you want to use sharpshooter-firing or not.
