I just wanted to thank all of you jerks at CCP who continue to provide additional content and mechanics at least twice a year that keep me completely addicted.
I hope you're happy with yourselves. Every few months, you further nerf my real life and suck me in further. You buncha jerks. HMPH!

At first I was worried this was going to be a whine thread. Now I wish it was...

I just find that no matter how worried I get over the next thing coming down the line, it always ends up being for naught. At worst, I'm given a reason to approach the game differently because of changes to my professions or race or ships or larger over-arching game mechanics as a whole.
More, I find I have a growing appreciation for other players who see CCPs efforts - even when "negative" - as a compelling reason to develop a new strategy. Greater things have always come when obstacles were dropped into my life than anything else. This isn't candyland. It's a cold, hard, brutal universe and I think those who truly enjoy the adventure have a mindset that would rather, for example, see some massive neural disease spread throught EVE than everyone get a shiny new uber-pwn ship and a sack of gold.
So while I admit I posted the above to be a smart-ass, I continue to appreciate CCPs efforts and the wisdom and approach of some of the most interesting fellow players I've been alongside in any game - including real life sports (yes, I was an accomplished jock in my younger years).
So kudos to my fellow players, too, actually... YOU JERKS. :P

I like how CCP really cares about Eve and they put their best effort to make such a great game. It's rare to find an mmo company (or any company) really have passion for their product like CCP has. I thank you CCP and your doing a great job. I love the expansion.

They're making penance for the fact that their ancestors invented hakarl.

Agreed.
Designers and coders care about what they do. If they were allowed the time and resources, they would only put out perfection. That is never possible, though. Not just for technical reasons, but because of a need for a company to also generate revenue and make progress. There's also external influences and decisions made by groups like Marketing.
It is often frustrating when you are aware of problems but you have to release anyway. Or you have things you need to implement, but know it can't yet be done. But in the case of CCP, I feel that most of (if not all) of the company has the mindset of the developers. That is, they all care about the EVE universe and want it to continue improving.
Yes, the eventual goal and result is for every change to drive revenue, but a wise company aims for that not through gimmicks and scams, but through maintaining and improving and contributing to an evolving game universe with new mechanics and content. By making compelling changes.
So even when I disagree with something, I feel secure in the belief that it was done with the best of intentions for the playerbase. After all, I certainly can't imagine them sitting around saying "hey, most people play Caldari... how do you figure we could totally **** them all off and make them quit?".
Anyway, while CCP has had an issue here or there that may have seemed questionable (a couple which apparently resulted in firings and the other being the changes in GTCs awhile ago)... I do believe they're "one of us". Not "one of them".

/signed, and great thread.
Anyone else remember the last missle 'nerf' (that, like this one, was in fact a mixed nerf/boost rebalance not an actual nerf)? Remember all the "Sky is falling, end of eve, I QUIT" *****posts?
Would people say there were more or less this time? Personally Id say less... perhaps people (cough, semi-afk mission runners and npcers) are learning to adapt?
Then again, perhaps they are just ****ing off to a grindier MMO. Hope so.
