My ****ing car got broke into and pushed into the middle of the road again.
By the time I realise whats going on I had to rush out of bed in the middle of the night with any pair of keys I can find to the abuse of annoyed motorists who think I left it blocking the road on purpose.
First time this a while ago, police were called out to the door, first I knew of it. I was "ordered" by them to leave the car inactive until a fingerprint team came around. The vehicle I use to get to work. After 3 days of cycling. I was getting pretty tired finding alternate means of transport and started using the van again. Finger print team never ever came, there was a phone call about it IIRC. The police are useless anyway.
I'll be glad the day I don't live in Britain. Always the same trouble from gangs on friday night coming out pubs. all people care about in this country is sex and alcahol and violence. Don't know what I should expect with a pub on every corner in this country.
I don't know whether I should be thankful I never caught them in the act. A drunken gang doesn't have much of a moral conscience, would they hopefully just run off? or would they beat me to a pulp? or would they kill me?
I don't know these days.

If you can't beat em, join em! Sex and alcohol (not too sure about the violence bit) are fun, and at least it won't be your car being broken into anymore

OK, what car was it?
If it's anything older than 8 years, it's really your own fault for buying a car with honour security. |

Edited by: 5pinDizzy on 15/11/2008 02:04:02 Just my car, I think they realise the car alarm is never on (it's broken still atm) so that's why It keeps getting targeted I think.
Going to get that fixed soon, hopefully that'll deter them and problem solved.
Oh and thanks for the wheel clamp idea. :D

Sorry it all got nicked out the back :p
Problem with wheel clamp is, I can see myself getting up nackered one day, forgetting there's a wheel clamp on. Starting to try and drive off and hearing a godawful noise. :O |

Fix/get new car alarm seems the rather obvious choice.
and/or possibly set up a security camera (fake one that's very visible would do) |

go down maplin's and buy a bright blue flashy led, fir in middle of dash, wire it to ignition so it comes on when all turned off. no u got a car at night with bright (alarmy looking blue flashy light)- like the expensive ones.(like mine- and no im not tellin u where i live) only downside is they may try it on to see the alarm go off (get ur alarm fixed)
oh dont forget to leave a pillow with a peice of board in the bottom with x2+ large sharpe nails sticking up(hidden) just remember not to jump in the car without taking off driver seat!!! (or u need hospital visit to take them nailes out ur ass) legaly speaking any knuts that breakin and get hurt doing so - tough luck on them.

Not here. In England, if you set painful traps for an intruder, you are guilty of assault. ________________________________________________

Yes, because it's the police that do the idiot crap, not the ****** "lets destroy everything because I'm not happy with my life" fools who think they're so cool (but only in numbers).

He says they promised to finger print and then didn't get around to it which meant he couldn't use his car for most of a week.
That's poor customer service at the very least.
They should do better.

And do you actually think that taking fingerprints somehow makes it all good? Ofcourse, if they promise something they should do it but lets not lose focus on who's to blame here.

That's just about anywhere in the UK now. The cops here are more interested in drivers who evade paying car tax than the real crimes now.
I got my car broken into, the thieves did 300 worth of damage and stole just the fascia of the stereo. They were caught red handed by the cops who had been called out by my neighbour, (yea, they actually turned up), with the fascia in their posession and even though my neighbour was a witness who gave a statement, they were never convicted. Too much paperwork is my guess but I had to foot the bill for the repairs. Either that or pay it anyway on my increased insurance premiums. It took nearly a year to get my fascia back from the police and when I did, it was covered in graphite which rendered it totally useless. For those who don't know, graphite is semi-conductive and not good on electronic parts. That added a further 100 to the bill for a new car stereo.
Now it's even debateable whether or not they turn up for a 999 call. I'm still waiting after nearly 3 months for them to answer mine.

While you can't shoot them, you can make a citizens arrest (technically an any person arrest, because we're subjects not citizens) in Britain. Of course, there are problems with it. If you go to far ("reasonable force"), do it improperly (for instance, moving them from where you arrested them, which allows them to claim you kidnapped them) or otherwise break the rules of an any person arrest, you can be prosecuted, so it's best to be careful. Not to mention the risk of injury to you.

The problem with the police is beaurocracy, they have to fill out a ridiculous amount of forms for each and every occasion. This includes situation analysis, detailed logs on every conversation, action taken etc. They have to conduct health and safety examinations and follow strict criteria.
The current work load of police is stacked more towards the paperwork than patrolling the streets and catching criminals, investigating etc. I think i once read that for every 12 minutes of actual police work they have to do an hour of paperwork (dont quote me on this my memory is vague).
I think we need to give the police freeER reign to enforce the law as they are paid to do. Alot of this paperwork is down to quite frankly f*cking morons, who want to uphold the criminal's human rights. WTF is human rights? what a load of bull****.

You forgot the 30 minute rule. With a citizens arrest, you can hold someone (in restraint if necessary) for up to 30 minutes while you wait for the police to arrive. Any longer and you have to let them go. You may as well forget citizens arrest, the time the police take to arrive, you'll be letting them go every time.
