That takes time.
Time we don't have in fights. Wouldn't fixing it be a better solution?

well if you have a guy you warp to when fighting make sure he doesnt stand still after warping
That cant be so hard when you are able to cordinate fire for 30 min so everyone shoots the same target

CCP have stated multiple tmes that they have had no idea of certain bugs even though we've bug reported it many times.
I am making all bugs as public and using as many paths to the devs as i can so that they are well knowledged in the fact that these bugs exist.

It's nice people posted a work-around (one I didn't know about actually, so thanks) but it is still an obvious bug. No reason they shouldn't fix it.

I'll even go so far as to say it. I personally have no idea what is being talking about with this bug. I have never seen any defects about it, at least not ones memorable or clear enough to recall. That doesn't mean that there are none, just that they either did not pass muster - were no help as anything other than a vague or confused report of a problem, or got assigned to someone else who is away on holiday (as the other person who works on this is at the moment).
If you care to describe the problem exactly here and the description is clear and useful - that I can reproduce it or work out exactly what needs to be fixed without reproducing it (not a guarantee for all bugs) then I will do what I can.
I could search for this bug in the system and look through all the potentially useful or useless reports, but to be honest and I know this is not what you want to hear, I have more important things to work on that I need to concentrate on. But if I can work out what needs to be done to fix it if possible then I can add it to my personal list and do it when I get some time.
Anyway, if you can help me by describing the problem, it would be appreciated. -- Richard CCP Programmer. Anything said above is not the official line, but my own take or opinion. |

::clueless::
The only time I get the "Gangster not in system" message is when the gang member is not in my system or is docked.
I have no idea what changing his direction/speed would do to solve this.
Perhaps, Lansfear, you could do as lickspittle asks and be a bit more descriptive.

You're sitting in space, ship stopped. Someone in your gang tries to warp to you. ERROR. Gangster not in system.
At this point the gang member tells you they cant warp to you, says ur not in system. You look at ur ship, its stopped. Oh.. i'd better point my ship in a random direction to start it moving. Try now you tell your gang member, ok they say, able to warp to you now.
Seriously i cant believe you've never heard of this bug. It might be caused by having ganged the person while they're either docked and not in space, or ganging them when they are in a different system.

I'll try to explain it best I can. (lickspittle i love you)
It seems to happen right after a person joins in the gang, with everyone in space, but at a different location in the same system(i believe, seems to be the case most of the time)
When you try to warp to that person you've just ganged, the message "Gangster not in system" message appears, im not sure about having them move or not, but the only way ive found to fix this is to completely remake the gang.
This is usualy at critical times when I'd need to warp to a friendly to help in a fight, and remaking the gang is simply not an option.
Reproducing it seems random, it doesnt happen everytime. I'll take a break from my suicide frigate attacks and see if me and a few friends can try to reproduce it over and over.

To me this seems related to the colors in gang not showing sometimes.
After doing "show gang-window" your colors should be purple again and I think this problem should also be resolved.
Not sure, but this is my best guess. (Lag/clientside-related i think)

I've taken a look at this and am unable to see what gets things into the state where it happens. However, it looks like it should be fairly reproducible if someone can work out the circumstances required.
If making a stationary ship start moving was a solution to this problem, then that would indicate that the gangster being warped to is not properly in space - and their ship should have been warped away and removed. If this like many other reputed fixes to problems is just urban legend and hand waving, then the problem is that newly added gang members are not tracked properly server-side.
So where it stands is if people who experience this can keep an eye out for common patterns in it and can give a solid reproducible case, I'll be more than happy to spend the time to fix it. As it is, it will be on my list, but without a reproducible case will not be worked on until I reach it.

I get this problem intermitantley while using 2 accounts, I will be at a location in space, i will form a gang and then 1 account will try to use the gang warp feature. Most of the time when the problem occurs reforming the gang reforms, But on a few occasions no matter how many times I have tried I could not get it to work If I can find a concrete was to reproduce on a regular basis I will post it as this is one of those bugs that I really hate a lot it makes me really really

I experiance this too- sometimes when I log back in after crashing I will still be part of the gang but won't be able to warp to anyone. If I select "show gang window" I am then able to warp to gang members. It also fixes the "wrong colors" problem.
