CCP will never admit to mistakes in game balance
To get something done we have to make it look like they are always improving the game

Maybe they just dont want everyone blasted to bits at the gate. Nonconsensual pvp doesnt mean you should be able to instagib everything.
Agility changes are perfectly fine imo.

Care to define what 'non-consensual' PvP consists of in Empire if you can't catch people on gates my carebear friend?
Have you found a way of catching people between gates? If so, please share.
Oh, and a Merry Christmas to CCP. I hope Santa Claus brings you a book of manners (it's rude to ignore people) and some typing lessons. Perhaps then you will be willing/able to respond to this 9 page thread.

Players are still dying at gates. Just not everyone. And not everyone needs to die at gates either. It's giving players a better chance in getting through the perma-camps. And this thread is about gate camps not being as efficient as before and thus whining about it.

No it's not, gatecamps are largely unaffected, just slightly bigger (that's a move in the right direction isn't it? )
With enough remote sensor boosting you can limit the effects of the agility buff, but to do that you need to be static (a camp). It's people who roam and chase who are affected as it is much harder to catch targets.
But you know this as it's been said in this thread many times, but you keep coming back pretending you didn't understand

Edited by: Matrix Skye on 24/12/2008 20:24:11 There are two pro- camps arguing for the same change, based on reasons that contradict each other.
1) "Gatecamps are the only places to catch targets... Therefore it shouldn't have to be difficult to catch them there."
2) And you fall on this camp, Captain Thunk, "It's about roaming/chasing targets. Gatecamps remain unaffected by the change. Chasing targets is now difficult".
Which ever group you fall in, you both agree this change is bad, but for two totally different and contradicting reasons. Which is true?
When someone explains to group 1 why the change is fair, then group 2 barges in explaining the reasoning is irrelevant. When someone explains to group 2 why the chang is fair, then Group 1 barges in explaining why the reasoning sucks. And even though Group 1 and group 2 are in total and opposite disagreement as to the effects of the change, you seem to be in perfect harmony .
This whole thread is a circular-reasoning trap leading to one illogical conclusion: Agility must be nerfed. There's no way in arguing against it because all doors are secured with reasons that don't even harmonize with each other. So basically my two choices in this argument are
1) Gatecamping is harder. And gatecamping is the only place I can catch targets. Nerf agility.
or
2) Gatecamping is unaffected and inconsequential. It's about catching targets on the move. Nerf agility.
So the real question is, would I like Combo# 1 or Combo# 2? Hmmm.

Probes do work sometimes, depending on what those people do.
Honestly, I think the changes will make for a better pvp environment in the long run, in order to get a few people to shoot at in lowsec they need a chance to get there alive in the first place.
If you want a real no-rules pvp zone where you can kill everything 0.0 is for you, bubble up the gate and there you go.

Since Im in a Emprie war atm(what is the most boring I ever had) actualy, station and gate huggin is actual required(in the 95% of the cases, because a enemy will not attack you anywhere else if he isnŠt 100% shure to win this fight) Do you realy start battles that you loose for shure?
You can have all this high moral and gameplay insights, but if you do this and be true to yourself you will admit that this is way to go in the end, sadly(actualy the reason why I usaly donŠt enjoy Empire wars). Even if im not a great fan of Empire wars I see the pain(since Im quite offencive most of the time).
Probing in High sec is allways spoiled by the huge amount of ship flying around.
If you think this is changing thing to the better you are stricly refering to the defensive/envadive party of the war what makes them as itself more boring and unentertaining(I taken part of enught Emprie Wars to state it).
PVP in Low Sec affected even worse, there are not more people comming to low Sec(actualy even less, since a part of the week end PVPs also have giving up with the changes). If your know how PVP works Low Sec was quite easy to manage before(unscouted BS pilote here ) and everyone that states the oposite only looks at systems that are realy worth camping, gess what 95% of Low Sec isnŠt.
People adept with bringing more support creating even deadlyer gatecamps(now since nano is gone). There is no win, soloers will be griefed out of the game by game changes, campers adept and bring more support, resulting in more bigger fights instead the good old pirate vs target under sentry aggro disadvantage.

I'm thinking long term, I hope the better risk/reward ratio might actually give people more reason besides pvp to live in lowsec, thus generating more targets to shoot at.
Apart from that, the only issue I had with things getting away after the patch is this annoying bug where you have it locked and your modules wont activate forever. The same thing you can see in the video posted somewhere in this thread. Thats not an agility issue, its either simple lag or (what I suspect) a bug with module activation.
I guess it might have been there before, but as there is less time to tackle you'll notice it a lot now.

Edited by: Jalif on 25/12/2008 13:41:25 Agility buff.. hmmm
- Targets are hard to catch so you have to work a bit more for it. I don't see a problem. Just use one of the following in a gang: Interceptors HIC's Dictors (any frigate)
- As solo pvp-er this is probably one of the best things happening within eve since blobs became the standard. Nobody is able to catch me anyway. If you want to get a fight. I suggest you drop your falcons & stop blobbing & bring the real skills in. Nobody is going to engage you UNLESS they have a higher number to kill you. And you are not going to engage them if they have a higher number.
To all those stupid whiners & people who can't adapt: - It is all your fault you had to setup gatecamps that were beyond "normal" - It is all your fault you had to bring 10x more ships then the enemy had then instead of thinking smarter then the enemy.
Im a pirate myself & the only thing that my enemies can do is bringing more numbers where they will epicly fail. Even damn players that are 4/5 years old compared to me of 2.5 years old are AFRAID to engage me with their t2 ship on my t1 ship.
CCP made the game for me more fun to play. To catch targets you have to work harder & bringing more people is not giong to cut it. You all ****ing whiners just don't know how to play the game.
Also people are saying that piracy & lowsec is dying with pvp. Its not. All the carebares now dare to get in lowsec & maybe you should stop flying shiny t2 ships where they are afraid of. I do everything with a simple stabber with t2 fitting & I'm rocking & I am still getting targets and MAKING MONEY with PVP.
Maybe it is time you get smarter then your enemy instead of having more money & shinier stuff.
Those who are smart will be rewarded & those who are stupid should hide in their little cave and continue doing their missions. This isn't wow, this is eve. Please STFU and play the game.
Blobbing & Falcons don't cut it anymore.

What he said was simple and truth: here there is people defending agility nerf for two different CONTRADICTORY reasons, which means that people does not care about balance at all.

If people try to blob you know the corps\Allicances soon or have intel ready, it is not a very big problem to me(I even admit I like it to pawn the bait with max DPS and GTFO before they are there ).
In the start it has nothing to do with blobbing(compleetly unrelated actualy) but later on, if you canŠt tackle a target with a ship that can fight it it preaty much sucks and leads to form gangs to get single targets that you actualy could manage pre QR comfortalbe on your own.
I donŠt see more people in Low Sec, but I see the people that are there simply dieing to bigger gangs that is all.
To the stabber thing, the stabber is decend on disengage, it is nowhere this good in a actual fight against someone that isnŠt stupid. People that say here this is broken are not stupid, it is actualy a Problem.
I love roaming in a solo Thorax(well not in QR but before) but there are many situations you need a BS, especialy in Empiere wars where you wonŠt get any kills vs heavy Tanks with smaller ships before redocking/jumping out solo or without dedicated Tacklers/Bumpers(yes bumping sucks to now).
The blob allways got a advantage, it isnŠt voided with the agility only by brining the wrong ships. But solo you are quite at the bottom end, you need a ship that can take a fair bit of Damage, do a fair bit of Damage, is fast and locks fast, this actualy donŠt exists.
Bring more tacklers isnŠt a awnser, it is a problem, especialy for small corps in Empire wars and solo PVP in Low Sec. ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank!

either this game goes to a WoW paradigm and dies like the iceland economy/country, or they stop the joke of nerfs that turned the "cold harsh universe" into a bubble bath for carebears and small children.
with all the take on nerfs and balance, it should be obvious
inty's should point everything without low mods, if frigs are fit for travel. Cruiser and above there shouldnt be any problem for a inty to point it.
any changes to this are dispicable and disgusting...

1: People are dying to bigger gangs means: they don't have scouts 2: People who are dying to bigger gangs are not taking the advantage of their overall faster speed
I recently started a new pirate corporation. Currently I have only 4 members but we are pretty much rocking. Catch targets got indeed much harder, but we aren't giving up because we know atleast how we have to catch targets.
If you want a fight & you want to kill the oponent. I suggest you stop bringing more numbers and bring tallent & skills instead & falcons.
Im not going to undock in my (for example) in my tempest when there are 10BS camping me. I just get my frigate/cruiser & I get out and let them suffer that they can't get me. But if you bring 3 hacs I might take the chance. Yes, I can kill you but you can kill me to now.
This agility improvement is only a buff to small/solo-pvp because the smartest is being rewarded. Since the patch I only lost 1 arbitrator because I was afk & 1 rupture because I crashed. I did not loose any of them to a larger gang.
The problem is not the agility, the problem is the player community who doesn't know how to play & think that bringing share numbers is the way to go.

It is obvious from your previous posts that you have previously lost ships to gate camps, which has clearly upset you so much you are advocating and supporting this unannounced drastic change to the game mechanics and ethos of Eve (ie. a harsh environment where nowhere or no one is completely safe).
If you don't like this game featuring non-consensual PvP then why not go play another game rather than ruining it for the rest of us?

I completely agree with the OP on all points.
Last night I went out with two buddies, one in a malediction to get points on our targets quickly, a rook and myself in a DPS hurricane.
We traveled about 30 system from our home system, encountering cloaking raven ratters in nearly every system we entered. Several times in a row, we would jump in, scan the target down in less 5-10 seconds, warp to the belt he was in and as soon as we popped out of warp he was gone.
Now, if the belt was 14 AU away and it took a little while to get there, then I can understand this. However, one of the belts was no more than 600,000 km from the gate... you don't even go into full warp to get to it, and he still had time to warp!
As if the Cloaking Raven ratters didn't already have an easy enough time escaping, the ridiculously fast warp times for battleships is making this game into one of consensual PVP only. The only way you're going to get a fight these days is if the other guy actually wants to stop and fight.
A hurricane used to be able to easily catch a drake if the two of them came to the gate at the same time and both jumped through. Now the gates are all gigantic, so even if you're lucky enough to land within range of your warp scrambler on the other side, you still can't target him before he warps.
What really ****es me off about this entire situation is that carebears have been getting more and more get out of jail free cards since I started playing this game. Between Warp Core Stabilizers, Gigantic Warp Gates, Agility Boosts, Warp To Zero, Jump Bridges and the fact that jumping through a gate clears the aggression timer now, it's a wonder that I've managed to kill anything at all in the past few weeks.
If the March 10th patch doesn't include the removal of local as an instant intel tool, then I'm done with this game until CCP decides to un-carebear it. The hours and hours of work that go into trying to engage another player in PVP just aren't worth it to me anymore. I already have one job, EVE is just for fun and the downward spiral of never ending concessions to the carebear crowd have removed the fun. ---------------------------------

There's a very basic thing that you've all failed to consired.
Stop for a moment and consider this.. what should take more skill being the hunter or being the prey?
The obvious answer is the hunter should take more skill and the prey should always have the advantage otherwise you end up with a situation where noone wants to be the prey and the game is pointless with everyone trying to be the hunter or just quiting.
As such. The prey should be getting away with little effort, this is the way it SHOULD be if you want to have a healthy game. There should never be a situation where someone dies and thinks about what they couldve done diffrently and the answer is nothing, they could've only died.
I know that alot of ppl will disagree with me but hey, I'm thinking about the benefit of the game and not your ego.

To continue with your anallergy. What if it is impossible for the hunter to catch his prey, what happens then? The answer is, he dies.
I suggest you read the whole of this thread. No one is suggesting it should be easy to catch people. What we are saying is that the game should not make it impossible to do so.
To use your anallergy again, with these changes to Eve the 'prey' must consent to be killed by the 'hunter'? Do you see that a lot in the wild where you come from?
I think this is the 'very basic thing you've ..failed to consider'.

In principle I agree with you, however the problem is it doesn't take any skill to click on one button. So then it becomes black and white, either you catch the target by clicking it or you don't. Well in this case id rather that you don't. But if you want to come up with another way where it matters who has more skill and that decides whether the targets gets away or lives im all for it.
Edit: Personaly what I would like to see is some kind of "panic" warp that acts like todays warp that's somewhat instant but inacurate and would send you to your target anywhere from 5-15km off.
And a percise warp that takes a little longer but warps to 0.
That would create a dinamic of ppl having ways to get away but leaving room to get caught on the other end.
And other such machanics that give choices and consequences rather then just black and white live or die. ----------------------------------------------- Free Trade Corp - Flash page "I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversation." |

I'm sorry, but I am struggling to understand your point.
Are you saying that unless it takes 'skill' to catch people then you shouldn't be able to? How do you define 'skill'? Pressing two buttons, three....etc ?
There are lots of things that people can already do to make it much tougher to be caught at gates and CCP are doing everything they can to make it even harder. But are you seriously suggesting that an interceptor should not be able to catch a battleship, because that is the reality of Eve today?
Ultimately it comes down to two questions:
1) Should there be non-consensual PvP in Empire?
2) Did CCP intend this to be the cumulative result of their changes?
Based on your previous posts I am not sure how you would answer question 1. Do you think Eve was 'broken' before these changes and has now been 'fixed'?
As CCP have no intention of ever answering question 2 I guess we can assume that it was their intention but they were too afraid to announce it publicly and instead decided to make these changes by stealth and hope no one noticed.
