Edited by: Lord Evangelian on 24/11/2008 19:51:00 ...Do you really get there stuff?
Over the past few days I have seen 4 "Rage quit" threads and the cliche line, "Can I have your stuff?" being the first reply. To the sincere minority in EVE who use this with the off chance actually getting a random contract from the character in question, who has ever received a nice wade of cash and stuff from the quitter?
Two questions to discuss: -
1. Who has said CIHYS, did it work? 2. What did you get, billions & cents?
edit: spelling errors!

1. I saw a 3 day old player ragequit because he'd lost a vexor to a 2 year old player in a thorax. I asked for his stuff and got it.
2. A little over 1m and a random frig (I guess he forgot that you shouldn't fly what you can't afford to loose). I gave it to the guy who popped him in the duel and told him he just won eve.

1) yes, yes 2) 104 billion isk and an arse load of random faction mods, ships and a Phantasm. Was the wierdest circumstance. Was tooling around in the north last year exploring and got into a conversation with some guy shadowing me from system to system. After almost a week of trailing me I finally got him to accept a convo, it seems he was waiting for me to drop a cyno (funny how things you discuss in npc chat find thier way into some out of the way area of eve :-P) and wasn't happy with his superiours keeping him on my arse to the point he was not getting in on the regular fighting as they said he was the only one who could keep up with me. (and he did! I used every trick to throw him off but alas the little green online light, local and the map were too powerful to shake. :-B ) Long story short we struck up a bit of a friendship over the next few days and he admitted Eve was starting to get old and was probably going to quit so I asked him the usual cihys line and I'll be damned if he didn't give it to me! So the moral of the story is never be shy about the cihys as you might actually get it.

I once said 'can I have your stuff' and ended up having a DEADSPACEFITTEDABADDON contracted to me. Then right as my mouse was over the 'accept' button, a bolt of lightning struck a telephone pole outside my house and it was pitch black for 6 hours. When the power came back on I swear I must've ****ed myself from all the effort I spent trying to get back online as fast as possible to snatch that contract, but when I logged back in the abaddon had gone to someone else and the character had been sold Most importantly, how are you supposed to tell whether this is part of my post or my signature? |

Not the pirating type, I just take from the rich so that maybe some day my most expensive possesion in eve won't be a deadspace/faction fitted retribution Most importantly, how are you supposed to tell whether this is part of my post or my signature? |

Curious Zeba, why do you still play, you have 104B which could buy everything you ever could want in EVE as a solo player...don't you get bored as you have no reason to play as the main reason for playing EVE is to get as much money as possible...(thats aside from the experience of playing with friends and socialising...)
I got to 10Bill and go so bored that I self destructed all my ISK making ships and Expensive Items and effectivly started again...
Think I answered my own question...

I have a bit moar than 104 bil, besides in eve its the journey with all the friends and enemys you make along the way which is what draws me in and keeps me playing and not some imaginary wealth figure in an internets spaceship game wallet. I trade and explore and pvp and mission and pirate and anti-pirate and pretty much everything else except for the nullsec sov game with my 5 accounts. I'd rather play in some guys nullsec backyard thumbing my nose at the blobs and enjoying the hunt and be hunted aspect rather than the boring task of defending it like the unhappy fellow who left the majority of his assets to me.

The fact is, 99.99% of all ragequit threads are bogus.
Many of them can be seen posting on the forums weeks, if not days later. Its rather funny. ---

A former hostile quit and handed me his stuff since I was a familiar face in local. It was worth... ahm... a lot. POS + fuel + weapons for POS and so on.
It pays not to smack TOO bad.
Never did the "can I have your stuff" though. Never needed anything bad enough to beg.

This is why you never see people boasting of wealth for long in chat or the forums. GIMMEGIMMEGIMME!!!!
I will however give you some advice for getting rich fairly quickly off one account. Use all three slots to make basic trade/hauler alts and then focus your training on one character to do all the ranged trading and other skills for missioning and pvp. Set your two basic and one main alt in three major hub regions and use them to check prices. After getting a feel for how the differing markets prices are set use the isk from your main character to buy low in one region then transport and sell high in another region. Set all three alts to make a trade run to one of the hubs your other alt left and have a near contant isk flow that only gets bigger as your wallet gets fatter. Basically the moar isk something is worth the bigger the profits to be had from regional differences. So once you get a few hundred mil in your wallet its just a matter of doing the runs to make the isk to the point you will be able to make millions per buy/sell off bulk purchases in a single system like Jita, Dodixe, Amarr or any of the other major and minor hubs. Of course there is a lot moar to it than that but hey moast of the fun is learning it for yourself anyways.

Got a lot of prefitted T2 ships (command etc) many of which I had to train up skills just to fly. Good choice in the end tbh ;-) Man goes to the doc, with a strawberry growing out of his head. Doc says "I'll give you some cream to put on it." |

It's not about actually getting stuff because nobody who asks for someone's stuff expects to get it.
The ragequitter is attempting to make him/herself look heroic and on the side of good by self martyrdom or by threatening to quit. They want to make a big production of it by stating "Oh woe is me, CCP is horrible, EVE is not worth playing anymore, I will quit if my demands are not meant" and the common response "Can I have your stuff" denotes that nobody cares and is meant to be demean the position of the quitter.

Edited by: Kaltar Bok on 25/11/2008 06:53:56 Someone gave me a Raven back when they first came out. That was lovely. Took me ages (it seemed at the time) to actually fly it properly. Didn`t take me long to get it blown up tho...
I never actually CIHYSed him tho, he was just offering it in local for kicks.
Hang on, my post is completely irrelevant to this thread... Damn. It was more DYWMS?
ps. My character was only a few weeks old at the time so it was a pretty big deal to me(although not 104B, lol)
