Am I the only one that's completely disgusted with the new damage model introduced by CCP in QR. I fly a Raven and equip Cruise missiles. Properly specced for the right damage type I shoot at another battleship, doing 150hp damage instead of 250hp (accdoring to CCP's own missile + skills calculation on http://www.eve-online.com/guide/en/g61_3.asp). Doing Lvl IV's with my friend in a Drake has him, with less skills shooting the same Battleship with the same missile damage type but with heavy missiles for around 140hp.
That makes no sense!!!! There is no calculation allowing for this and my cruise missiles are doing almost the same damage as his heavy missiles? I am sure they thought they had a good idea when introducing this but it really frustrates the crap out of me having spent 3 months training the skills for the Raven to do LVL IV's with, now I cannot do decent damage with it anymore. Asking a GM about it also had no results as he could not give me the calculation or the thinking. Told me to buy another ship if I don't like the Raven. WTF!!!!!!

My observation was that NPC battleships went down just as fast as they did before (some even faster... not sure whats up with that) and NPC cruisers were killed mainly with 2 or maxinum of 3 salvos, which is about the same as before patch. To be fair, I did switch T2 Hammerheads to medium targePainting drones but hey, it works great!
Training basic missile skills like guided missile precision and target navigation prediction helps alot if you are having real problems with your cruise missiles. Also selecting right damage type can do wonders, but Im sure you already knew this.
To further illustrate the results of few lv.4 mission I ran: My avarage salvo damage against NPC BS' was around 2000 (varies a bit whit different NPC's) that leaves approx. (2000 / 7 =) 286 damage per missile after resistances, which sounds quite reasonable.
Overall I didnt notice any huge drop in performance against NPC's

I was one of those unlucky enough to get caught in a bind or crack when the new patch came out, and couldn't hardly finish a mission. Fortunately, everything seems to have leveled out and I am not having the problems I was in Lvl 4s now. Still a bit tricky, but I haven't had any impossible difficulty in completing them now. I'm enjoying the game again, so my hat is off to CCP.
I still think a cruise missile should almost obliterate a small ship, but that's just me. My drones do a good job of taking care of them, so I won't nitpick too much.
Roidix, go to the Battleclinic and look up the specs for a mission-runner Raven. That's where I got my loadout and its working pretty good for me. Pricey, especially the Arbalest Cruise Launchers, but they definitely worth it. Invest in a couple of Tech II BCUs if you haven't already. All in all I spent around 30 mil on mods, but am making that back pretty quick. I also have three Capacitor Recharge rigs (can't remember the exact name right now) on my Raven, and make sure you keep your ship moving. You take more damage sitting still than if you are orbitting something (a wreck, etc.) Try that stuff out and let me know how it works!

Sorry but im with Roidix on this one. THe new Missile system is a complete disaster. I also fly a Raven with Cruise missiles, and have only just started lvl4's and was quite happy. Now after the patch its just impossible to say the least.
The game is no fun anymore like this, im currently sat for over an hour just trying kill a lvl 3 BS. I have had to use Torps to actually do some damage !!!
Please fix it!

Painters + webdrones = better missile damage Painters + 2nd char webbing = even better missile damage Painters on a raiper/huggin+ webbers on a raiper/huggin = priceless
Try having you torpedoes speed tank'd by a BS with out an AB.. its real disheartening.
I just find it funny that the Mimatar Web/TP bonus helps Cal ships out more now /shrug

Please fix it!
I mean no personal criticism whatsoever... however if you are really sitting, shooting cruises on a level 3 mission BS class ship for over an hour without killing it yet, it's hard for me not to imagine that you have a fitting problem somewhere along the line. Would you like to post the fitting which is unable to kill an NPC BS in an hour so that we can test this assertion or maybe try to make helpful criticism?
