There is currently an issue where players who purchased EVE through Steam are unable to properly patch their EVE client. Upon downloading the patch and trying to apply it, a CRC error would be thrown for resui.stuff. This was a result of a corrupted file in the client.
Fortunately, we now have a fix for this issue!
Simply download THIS file! The file is 178MB, so it may take a bit to download, please be patient.
It is a self-extracting .exe file that will replace the corrupted files and allow you to patch normally.
Note: This fix works for players who are currently running the 69477 and 70124 versions of the EVE client ONLY. If you have an older version of the EVE client, you will need to download the full EVE installer instead. ____________________________ I break things.Ö

try going to the game properties in steam and check cache game integrity, steam will analise your cache game and download some files, after that try install this patch and the 5.20.70393 patch after that...

Jet, I'm starting to think you're extracting the files to the default folder, and that your install is actually some place else.
Can you double-check where your Steam installation is for me?

im not a happy bunny, i have had non-stop problems with the eve patcher for steam. i have lost well over a week of game time due to this patch problem. it just isnt good enough. i love this game so that makes it even more frustrating! i have downloaded, reinstalled and patched 9 times. and still get the crc error for resui.stuff. to be honest if this work around does not work i will be giving up!!!!

Rightclick on EVE Online in your Steam Games list, select "Manage Game Account...", then go from there - if I understand you right and that's what you want.
When patching, make sure it's 'programas' instead of the default 'program files'. Or just try manually finding the folder anyways.

If the above steps don't work for you, then you're having a different problem than described above.
Be sure you check all the steps listed, if you're having issues after re-installing the client using the full installer from our website then you should check your computer for viruses, configuration problems, or hardware failures.
Also make sure your drivers and operating system are fully up to date. ____________________________ I break things.Ö

I didn't want to start a new thread, because really I'm not sure which problem is which here. However, my experience with Steam and Eve became troublesome today, and here is the sequence of events.
1. During the most recent patch opportunity, two attempts failed, each generating a message about a corrupted file.
2. After quitting, waiting a few minutes, and trying again, Eve's automated patching was successful. I played without incident* from the day of the most recent patch to this morning.
3. I turned my PC off while out of the house for a while. This reboot, the first since the patch, coincided with an inability to launch Eve from the normal desktop shortcut.
4. Attempts to launch Eve with the "safe mode" entity in Eve's program folder failed, referencing an absent file in a path that my Steam installation of Eve never created. Duplicating the entire fileset in the designated path did not help.
5. After a hot meal and a comforting shower, I dug around and read about the history of Steam-related Eve problems. Using Steam as a launcher for Eve got me back in the game.
So, long story short, if you are presently getting "this program has stopped working" messages almost immediately after attempting to start Eve, and you acquired it through Steam, try using the Steam application as your launcher for Eve. It may be a little inconvenient, but it does work, at least in my case. If this is a separate bug from the one inspired by this thread, someone more knowledgeable is welcome to use any of this post in putting together an informative thread for the technical issue I encountered.
Regards, Robert Fitzroy
P.S. All this happened on a pretty standard Vista desktop PC, running since June and playing Eve quite a bit since September.
*Actually, there was an untimely client crash yesterday. However, my experience with Eve has been that one soft crash per 10 hours of play time is pretty much par for the course.

Though this issue is not the same, it's good to post this workaround for folks who might be having a similar problem. Great info there Robert! ____________________________ I break things.Ö
