Hey what ever happened to CCP fixing mines and putting them back in the game? They said they were gonna do that shortly after the Shiva patch, yet I still have a few sitting in my hangers that I can do nothing with. They were suppose to make them something new and ultra violent.

Fix the game before adding new content tbh. - Violence isn't the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes. |

Its not New Content it was in game before if i remeber right it caused to much lag because people would plant alot of mines in one location (as intended) and it caused trmendous lag, But now that CCP is stll having 400+400 player fights with little or no lag , it would be nice to see these added, they are a very big aspect of warfare.

To be honest, the idea of a minefield is fairly silly. Afterall, the purpose of mines is area denial and the only place it makes any strategic sense to place a bottleneck is at a gate. That job is already taken by players using gatecamps - why make it even more suicidal to try to break a gate?
Besides, if the goal is strategic area denial, the best option is a small, cheap specialized POS that can be anchored near gates. Such a module wouldn't have a reinforced mode or brutal firepower - just lots of hitpoints. I figure if one could place a handful of guns and maybe a neut/web battery you'd have the same basic effect but it still requires player presence to be effective.

So many uses for mines....
Mainly traps at planets, belts, cans, PoSs, etc.
But im guessing mines would have to be limited to either low sec-nullsec or just null sec.

From what I've heard, one of their major issues were due to aggression. You put mines down and here you are many systems away in empire, someone trips them and gets hurt, it'd get you concorded... though I don't know if it's true and it'd probably be fixed if readded, but that'd be a silly way to die.

Actually I'm looking at them as more of a way to counter cloakers. Would make them a useful way to deny access to systems where there are problems with tons of people always fitting cloaks to hide. Could easily have them with similar damage and range to a medium smart bomb. Granted if small smartbomb damage would be effective to detect cloaked ships, and uncloak them. Could even do a mine that did an anti cloaking pulse.
Forgot to change to main character, this is Morikai.
