theres a slight difference with the ships ranges. Huginn/rapier uses a buffer tank bcos they have to be around 40km (enough range for drones/missiles/turrets to hit), whereas the falcon can sit at 200km+ which is out of range for most things, thats why falcons dont usually. fit a shield buffer
Long range damps are a defensive tactic, which help Minmatar ships to retire while being tackled. Therefore a Huginn can stay in the back, where it's generally safer. Painters have massive ranges due to their falloff so their effectiveness doesn't suffer much.

To be fair its over 40's but the idea of large active tanks is not to perma run but to pulse them. I.e. Micro manage your tank.
Whether or not its good or not depends on the situation, with sig radius playing a bigger role, I figure giving an active tank a go on a cruiser may be worth the attempt.

I always felt range and speed to be Minmatar's primary tanks, with shield tanking secondary (only to repair what damage you do take). That being said, either a booster or buffer will be useful, but the shield booster is going to cap you out and if you are hit with cap warfare you have no tank left, and with active tanks you take away cap for your speed and EW modules. It's viable, but I think it more viable on a Vagabond.

don't waste your mids on shield boosters, amps and invul fields, 2 web, 1 tp 1 disruptor mwd setups are really much much better. . .and some fair dps to boot. ----

Is speed fitting any kind of T2 cruiser(inc minmatar) still viable option for solo/small fast gang?

steaming pile of pooh....i couldnt stop a TYPHOON yes TYPHOON, mwding back to the gate, he decloaked i locked him in 3 seconds duel web, gang was shooting him, but his transversal carried him back to the gate plus that with my weak web power, ment that he jumped through with half armour. A bloody battleship

Yeah I know. I have given up trying to solo gate camp with it. The webs aren't stopping anyone from going anywhere, let alone the kinds of targets a Rapier/Huginn could conceivably solo. Doesn't matter how many remote sensor boosters you have on you.

rofl, new observation, the huginn is actually not an awful ship if you slap T2 medium pulse lasers on it in place of the autocannons. It outdamages its autocannon counterpart between the ranges of 15km and 25km, coincidently pretty much the exact range of engagement of the ship. The difference is significant too, 190 dps vs 140 on a jaguar at 20km. Only downside of the laser fit is it requires near perfect fitting skills and a 3% cpu implant on top of that.

Slightly, I don't know why you are trying to make the ship a damage dealer, it always has been a gang ship support tackler. Its dps is secondary.
However, changing the bonus on it to include a web strength bonus would be a good idea. Only change I would make to your suggestion would be dropping the missile launcher rof bonus (and CCP would probably be more likely to do that) for a 20% web strength bonus (afterall the f***ing Rook gets a 20% bonus).

I'm trying to make it a damage dealer because otherwise whats the sense in using it over a rapier?

The Hugginn is great as a solo ship or in a Gang. I fly it i love its still a good ship to Pwn smaller ships or make sure other ships can not crash the gate and get away. If you have recon 5 and good skills this ship is Pure Pwnage. Even thou webs got smacked in the face if your a good pilot then this ship is a great one to fly. I like going with 220II and Barage and fall off rigs. The Hug is never ever going to be a Huge DPS ship.. Thats not its Role. Its role to smash Smaller ship and gang support. Also with that being said I have never Fit any of my Hugs with HAMS due to the range on Hams. I 100% go with 3x220II (Barage) 3x Hvy LaunchersII Pwnage,Invul,2xWebs,MwdII,Sens Booster(scan res) DCUII,I-StabII,PDUII(for free shiled/Morecap) Rigsx2 Fall off rigs Drones/8xWarriorII
I like the quick lock a sens booster give you and the Istab helps you get to moving fast.. When u get recon 5 it shines lik eyou would not belive.. Also the fall off
Now 100% yarr free. Why are you called a pirate if u fly under NBSI?
