Originally by: CCP Atlas I'm afraid we don't officially support Windows 2000 any more. However, LFH is supported on Windows 2000 SP4. We should see similar effects there as on Windows XP.
Urg, when did that happen? Some notice would have been nice.

Adding more "3D" to the sound would be nice, along with exponential dropoff with range.
Some noises need to be louder (the wuup-wuup-wuup of the warp scrambler for example), other noises need to be softer - I don't need to be bleeding from the ears by the time I've finished killing Zor, with his Cataclysm cruise missiles hitting me every 2 seconds for 15 minutes...
I've had a few PvE experiences where the jump to the next deadspace pocket must have been small enough to almost be on the same grid - seeing the little blob of red zoom out to become many ships spread out over 100km is really quite spectacular. More in-warp loading of models please :)
Thankyou for keeping us informed, CCP.

In the article and a post afterwards, you make mention of 'modern' hardware not having issues with xyz.
What is modern hardware to you guys? 1, 2, 3 years old gfx card? Dual core processor? 1 gig + ram?
What are you shooting for when you drop 'modern'? ----------------- Friends Forever |

Something like a dual core machine with 2GB of RAM and a 128+MB graphics card. Maybe I should have used the phrase "modern gaming platform" since my home computer isn't that good though. ;-)

Originally by: CCP Atlas Yes, that's something that we'd like to see and will probably be done (along with exporting and importing of overview/bracket settings) soonish.
If you do that import/export thing, i bet you thousands of players would save more than an hour each....
Think about all that love comming your way, all at once...

Err... You might want to correct that blog a little... Since the 1.0.3 patch lots of people have had issues with the game crashing, loss of connection without a reason and other problems. Maybe you should try to make the servers run smooth, but not overdo it. Remember, after tight comes very, very loose. And from what we players can tell, you've pushed it too far and broke something that's essential to the server functioning correctly... --- "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign for a diseased mind." -Terry Pratchett |

Although this is totally a step in the right direction, I have 4 words for you CCP: Adaptive Level of Detail. I want this game to look it's nicest when things are quiet but be able to maintain decent fps in fleet battles WITHOUT having to enable and disable all this stuff manually. Hopefully that's in the pipes
P.S. Although a new particle system is cool, I can't wait for some awesome shaders for shield hits and repairs as well as armor hits and repair. Oh, and for Pete's sake, make missiles come out of the launchers allready.

can i have eve clinet from 2005 back? you know the one when i was able to play on 6 accounts without being constantly dropping? can you do that? cause this piece of !@#$% aint working you know.
please mail me link to that 2005 client so i could still be able to log into the game and play a little from time to time and not only pray to log in and be able to switch skills thanks in advance
oh, and yes, i have petitioned it like 2-3 times. tried to send logs from 'logserver' but your mailing/petitioning serivce did an awesome job to delete them each time i have sent them so i have passed on that.
gl with this bu11!@#$ game, ccp. you have killed it nicely.

yeah it sucks, and CCP should write up a blog for it. not correct s bog that has nothing to do with game crashes.
maybe we should fix those underwater server cables while were at it, and reinvent the internet.
that said I am :P but that's not important.

Will there be any patches to allow the client to use SLI or other multi-gpu setups?? Currently I have to turn off SLI or EVE becomes completely unplayable. Also I can not run more than one client or even the eve client with any other game at the same time as EVE seems to lock up all system resources and the system slows down to a crawl. I can do this with any other games but EVE seems to not like running with another instance of anything including itself.

Guys full scale PVP has as much to do with your PC and client settings as it does with server side.. optimize your clients!!!

Originally by: CCP Fallout The release of Quantum Rise, EVE OnlineÆs newest expansion, has been an historic one. Never before has a massively multiplayer had a slew of hardware and technological breakthroughs that allow players to participate in fleet fights on a massive scale. There was only one problem: the game client. Many of you have reported a number of issues related to the client and how it performs on your myriad systems, and we have responded with a two patches to help alleviate the problems you have been experiencing.
But thereÆs more.
This week we will release a third patch, Quantum Rise 1.0.3, which contains a ton of new fixes bringing even more performance enhancements directly to your desktop. This newest patch is, in part, due to player fleet fight testing efforts on Singularity and your feedback. Your efforts have helped us improve EVE Online, and in his latest blog, "The EVE Client û A Love Story," CCP Atlas gives the ins and outs of the efforts that have been made to kick the issues in their asteroids.
You may read all the blog goodness here.
Cute story, but how about fixing this huge ATI bug that has been making eve unplayable for over 7 months for a large number of people without it being addressed? A gate fire rendering bug that is crashing ATI cards. Read and weep here, or go ahead and silence my post, the easy way out. |
