Christmas Comes Early To Eve Radio
Season's greetings pod pilots.
It's been a long, long time since we've made an address like this. Over two years in fact.
Two long years of no real promotion or regular communication with the Eve Online community as a whole. No significant events, announcements or direct communication with CCP. In fact, for the most part we've catered mainly to our own pocket community without extending further a field and throwing ourselves at the mercy of the Eve Online community forums.
Well, guess what? Times have changed. And so have we.
This post is broken up into three parts. If you can't handle a wall of text, I suggest you skip to the shiny part on page 2 titled Christmas Comes Early!
What Is Eve Radio? Concerning CCP Christmas Comes Early!
Quote: What Is Eve Radio?
Eve Radio is an Internet Radio Station broadcasting live music and chat to the players of CCP's Eve Online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since EO's beta period in early 2003. It streams a high quality 128kbps audio broadcast to thousands of unique weekly listeners and has enjoyed huge success with fans from across the globe.
It was started as an Eve Online beta period project by a couple of ISD volunteers and quickly drew the attention of a small, but loyal fan base. After Eve Online was released and Eve Radio's existence became known to the small but growing subscriber base, it was decided to push it to the next level and re-launch it with a full working schedule in August 2003.
Since that time Eve Radio has grown massively, streaming to a minimum average of 150 people during our quietest periods and upto a peak of over 500 simultaneous listeners. During any given 7 day period Eve Radio serves a minimum of 3000 unique listeners, making it one of the most popular MMO based Internet Radio Stations in the world.
Eve Radio has also co-produced and hosted several unique events, including the first Eve Online Alliance Tournament as well as the pilot Eve TV Alliance Tournament.
From December 2008 Eve Radio is making efforts to push things to the next level once again, starting with a massive give away and competitive event to help pave the way for a very busy and exciting 2009 expansion.
Quote: Concerning CCP
Eve Radio itself is a privately funded organisation that has no legal ties or associations with Crowd Control Productions (CCP) and as such operates under it's own private mandate.
We enjoy a good relationship with our friends at CCP and have partnered with them on several occasions to bring unique events to thousands of simultaneous listeners as well as run a full 24/7 broadcast schedule with a generous mix of music, events and discussion geared towards the Eve Online player.
CCP games are in no way responsible for the on air content broadcast at Eve Radio nor are they interested in addressing any complaints regarding Eve Radio, it's DJ's or on air content.
Please see CCP's knowledge base article concerning Eve Radio for clarification.

Quote: Christmas Comes Early!
And now to the good bit that most of you have probably skipped to.
To both celebrate our fifth year of operation and successful brand "reboot", we're holding a weeklong event that should appeal to everyone who likes good music, good chat and likes free stuff.
That's right. Free stuff.
Over the course of the event, Eve Radio will be randomly giving away the following :-
20 x 500 million ISK instant prizes 10 x 60 day ETC's 1 x Complete Faction Battleship Model set
And that's just the main event.
Individual DJ's will also be hosting their own special events and giveaways throughout the event period; so don't be surprised if there's even more free swag going.
So what do you have to do to get your hands on this free stuff?
For the main event, all you need to do is make sure you are tuned into Eve Radio periodically from the 15th - 21st December. You can do this by visiting www.eve-radio.com and tuning in automatically via the built in website player or by connecting with third party players (Winamp, VLC or our proprietary GRN Tuner) to one of our three primary streams.
Full connection details for third party players are available on the front page of the Eve Radio website.
Once tuned into Eve Radio, you just need to keep your ears open for a special audio alert periodically played during the 7 day event period and then send an Evemail titled "Giveaway" to the character MrBlades (Please ensure that the MrBlades character you send the evemail to is a member of the Eve Radio Corporation with DJ Whitey as CEO to avoid scammers) and be the nth person to do so during that round.
Each day of the event, the nth number will be updated on the Eve Radio website. So make sure you check for updates regularly.
Example :-
On day 3 of the event, the 18th person to send in an Evemail to MrBlades shortly after the audio alert has been played will win either 500 million ISK or a single 60-day ETC.
There will be 30 such audio alerts over the 7 day period, at any given time day or night.
To maximise your chances of hearing an alert, it is recommended you use the built in website player to listen to Eve Radio as most (But not all) alerts will be accessible only via the website.
Should a listener be fortunate enough to win one of the 30 instant prizes, they will also be given a special code that when inputted into our Event Mission Database will give you access to a special Eve Radio Agent Assignment which, if completed successfully, will grant you instant inclusion in the grand finale Complete Faction Battleship Model set giveaway on Sunday 21st December between 1800 - 2100 gmt.
Full details of the Agent Database will be posted prior to the event start.
In addition to the 30 winners codes, there will be 20 additional codes given away during the week by on air DJ's, bringing the total number of grand finale prize draw entries to 50.
And to top it all off, on the night of the prize draw, an additional 5 platinum tickets will be given out by Dj FunkyBacon with instant fast track access to the draw.
So in theory, a maximum of 55 people will be eligible for the main prize draw on Sunday night. Should a code holder not complete the agent assignment in the allotted time they will not be included in the finale draw.

Agent Missions
We decided giving away a Complete Faction Battleship Model set deserved a little more thought and involvement than relying on blind luck. Therefore we created the Eve Radio Mission Database for the fortunate first round winners to sink their teeth into.
There are 50 unique assignments that have been created for this event. They are mostly of the trade and courier variety, although there are some good old kill missions thrown in there as well for good measure. Be prepared to lose sec status for this. Most are based on a loose storyline revolving around Eve Radio and as the assignments are completed, we will broadcast them on air so everyone gets to hear what we've had the lucky winners doing.
If you visit the Event Mission Database (Details TBA) and enter the code "XYGPTL" it will play an example mission for you, so you'll have a rough idea what to expect.
We certainly hope you enjoy this part of the event as it is paving the way for a future interactive RP project we are going to be running at Eve Radio in the new year.
The community
We already have a thriving community at Eve Radio and we invite each and every one of you participating in this event to stop by and get involved with the regulars. You can do this by joining our IRC chat room #eve-radio on the coldfront server or by jumping in game and joining the Eve Radio channel.
Summary
20 x 500 million ISK instant cash prizes 10 x 60 day ETC prizes 1 x Complete Faction Battleship Model set giveaway Plus numerous DJ specific events and competitions
Please note, all efforts will be made to deliver ISK and ETC prizes to winners as close to the draw as possible. The lucky winner of the complete Faction Battleship Model set can expect delivery during January of 2009.
Entry to the grand finale Faction Battleship Model set is conditional on completing the assigned agent missions. Draw to be made 21st December at 20.30 gmt.
For the best chance of winning any of the above prizes, listeners are advised to connect to the built in website player at www.eve-radio.com.
Event starts 0700 gmt Monday 15th December Event concludes 2100 gmt Sunday 21st December
Join us in irc at :-
irc.coldfront.net, channel #eve-radio
Join us in game at :-
Eve Radio
Participation is open to all listeners with the exception of serving GRN broadcasters, aux staff and those blacklisted for past indiscretions.
To conclude
Some may ask exactly why we are doing all this.
It's simple really, we've been around for five years now and the last couple of those years haven't exactly been easy for us. We retreated from the forums and kept to ourselves for the most part when the trolling became too much and internal difficulties arose.
With recent changes and a positive new outlook on life we are once again enjoying doing what it is we do and we wanted to thank our regular listeners for their support and donations over the last 62 months and welcome back many of those that may have wandered.
We also wanted to remind the Eve Online community that we are still here and still rockin even if we have been quiet for the last couple of years.
Check out our lineup and hear what our DJ's have to offer. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Have a good festive period Eve Online and we look forward to spoiling you rotten very soon.
Merry Christmas from everyone at Eve Radio

That's correct, for two main reasons.
1) The alerts are controlled by a single person and none of the DJ's will have prior knowledge of when an alert will go off so there can be no future cries of DJ shenanigans.
2) We prefer people to use our site player.

This is going to be a fairly informal guest appearance of Navigator on the Grand Draw show, and hopefully (if we can twist his arm *grins*) we'd love him to make the draw of the grand prize of the Faction Battleship Model Set.
Although the channels won't be locked down, don't expect Navigator to answer questions directly from the listenerbase... Any questions passed forward to him (within certain guidelines that have been set down by CCP) will be passed along through the event management - ie Eve Radio DJs and Staff.
We welcome questions to Navigator from the listeners - look out for a thread on the GRN/EVE Radio forums at http://forums.gamingradio.net by the middle of the promo week.
With the prizes available on this one... sometimes I wish I was a still a listener... ;) *grins*
Kind Regards,

You'd best make sure you stock up on Redbull for the first 4 days then. Thats about 20 chances to get in on the draw, so not all bad news.
And since we're not following standard lottery rules, you don't need to be online in order to win the big prize. You just need to qualify for the final in the first place ...

Mission database is now live and ready to go. Even though this feature is designed only for first round winners, we have a demo setup so everyone thats interested can have a listen to get a rough idea of what round 2 is all about.
Goto the Eve Radio website, click on the mission menu item and enter the code "XYGPTL" into the space provided and sit back. If the audio doesn't play automatically, you're probably rubbish or using IE to browse with. If that's the case, just hit play when it's loaded.
If you don't enter anything you'll end up with the agent spazzing out a bit. It may or may be familiar.
In other news, everything is now set and ready to run starting from 0700 gmt monday 15th December. It's been a mad rush these last few days getting the final touches put in place and we hope you enjoy this event.
Good luck this week!

I WON!!!!!!!!
2008.12.15 10:36 You have won 500 million ISK from Eve Radio. This will be deposited into your account shortly. Furthermore, you now have a chance to enter the Complete Faction Battleship Model set draw on Sunday night.
All you have to do is goto www.eve-radio.com and click on the mission menu item and enter the code to gain access to a special assignment. Complete this within 48 hours and you will be entered into the grand final draw.
Good luck. <hr> Believe it or not I started playing EVE because friend was listening to Eve-Radio while playing WoW. He heard about it from a player of Eve who used to love listening to DJ Urri's show. After that I had to see what this game was all about and have been hooked for 2 years tomorrow. You guys at Eve Radio perform a great service to us pod pilots and I for one Thank You. I'm a pretty loyal listener to this station because the music and content are as diverse as the DJ's who play it, and I've heard just about all of them. So for those of you who don't listen while mining, mission or podding, you're missing out. You guys at ER have really made this game experience awesome, and with this great contest, it's even BETTER!! When MrBlades disclosed me as the winner in the ingame channel, I couldn't believe my eyes! I got so excited I almost fell out of my chair(has a missing wheel so this statement is very true). I wasn't expecting to win. I was just there for the fun of it. I don't know what else to say except that I hope you guys have a Merry Christmas and thank you again for giving me this opportunity to win a most excellent prize!

As of right now the following people have won :-
drillerkiller2004 | Mission Code [Assignment complete/into final draw] Gemorion | 500 million ISK and Mission Code [Assignment complete/into final draw] D'Gwan | 60 day ETC and Mission Code [Assignment completion pending] Wladyslaw Loketek | 500 million ISK and Mission Code [Assignment completion pending] Litiam Liani | Mission Code [Assignment complete/into final draw] Abiran Barnabas | Mission Code [Assignment complete/into final draw]
In addition, DarkAvenger DK won himself an Orca, skill book and fittings this evening on DJ Wiggles stand alone Capitalisation Plus/Minus event.
And today's been a bit of a slow one ...
At least 9 billion ISk, 9 60 Day ETC's and 44 more agent mission codes for the complete faction battleship model set still are up for grabs over the next 5 days. Make sure you give yourself the best chance of hearing the alerts by using the built in player on the Eve Radio website and please, please, please remember to refresh it every once in a while to ensure something hasn't broken and robs you of the chance of hearing the alert. And even if you don't, keeping an eye on our in game channel (Eve Radio) should alert you to a giveaway as people can't help but wig out when the klaxon goes off.
Good luck for the rest of the week!

I just wanted to know if it's intended that some winners get mission codes that give them... extremely hard/impossible missions?
I have searched contracts, Jita market, gotten checks on markets in many other regions from friends, but there's no Ultra! Promotional Holoreels anywhere...
And I've tried using google to find out where they come from, but there's been absolutely no help there.
Another winner I talked to has to deliver VELDSPAR...
(If it's intended that's fine with me, I just find it a little dissapointing)

Some missions are easy and some aren't as easy. Everything in the trade/commodities range is available somewhere on the market if you look about. Of course, you can always put up a buy order or something at an attractive price, ask on forums for assistance etc. Some solutions aren't immediately obvious but if they were all too easy then it would be pointless going to all this trouble scripting them in the first place.
But then it wouldn't be as interesting.
Your one is a lot, lot easier than some of the assignments on the books. In fact, theres a couple out right now that are leaning towards the hard side of things - so you're not that bad off really. ;)

Questions for CCP Navigator
This sundays finale show hosted by DJ FunkyBacon will be featuring CCP Navigator as a guest during the last hour of the show. During this time we will be picking his brain regarding various issues, so heres your chance to submit questions.
Please note, he's not going to discuss anything regarding forum policy, bans or controversial topics (you know what I'm talking about) as we want to focus on the "fun" things in Eve.
And just to sweeten the deal, the best question (As decided by CCP Navigator and FunkyBacon on the night) will get one of those coveted 5 Platinum tickets given out during the finale.

Nope. Would be nice but as it's christmas it's fairly likely that some folks will be away and it would be a bit harsh to deny them because of commitments.

And let's not forget, we are wanting some decent questions for CCP Navigator to answer on the finale show sunday night and who ever posts the best question will get one of only 5 platinum tickets that will give them automatic entry into the final, skipping the need to win a code and complete an assignment and going straight into the draw on sunday night.

Question for CCP person, or questions rather:
I am a sucker for buying things for a product I genuinely like(EvE for example), plus it's always something easy I can point people to to get me for a gift. The art book for example, key chain, tshirt, all have been cool gifts I have gotten from people that know I play EvE alot. Now I love the idea behind the models but I am not nearly bourgesoisie enough at this time to justify the purchase, and I wish I could.
Anyway this brings my to my ?. Is there anything in the works by ccp merchandise and game related other than the box release coming up? I've rumours for sometime about a Pen and Paper EvE concept being kicked about. And I offer a suggestion I would blow a months disposable income on. An EvE Chess set. POS towers for castles,Titan and MoM's for king and queen perhaps. It'd be epic and a welcome addition to my stuff.
Anyway there's my question.
HappyHolidays/New Year to all.

The long explanation for the lawls is that in order to get the mission you have to be listening to the station actively from the website to hear a special alert. Once that happens to have to eve mail MrBlades and be the correct # Eve-Mailer to get the code. Once you have the code you put it into the special section on the website and then the mission is given to you via audio.
Aside from the mission acquisition being pretty much bot proof, given how the missions are structured, at worst you'd be looking at someone on autopilot, hauling some goods.

Allright! After some slight difficulties understanding the nice man giving me a briefing (maybe I was still too excited about a win xD) I was able to fullfill the mission. Grabbed an ol' stabber and a cloak, an mwd and off I went. I will not give out any information on the where and when I went. ;) Love it! Way more personal than the "Oh it's AE again...". Great Fun!
Too bad Avatars aren't there yet - would have loved to "personally" turn in the mission.

QUESTION FOR CCP Navigator
CCP does quite well making trailers for the bigger patches in the game. These trailers are sadly a bit short, and leave me and others wanting more. Would CCP ever consider making a 1-2 hour long movie? If so, how much work goes into the trailers and what kind of a challenge would making a 1-2 hour film?
/Me thinks an epic 1-2 hour special film would be fitting for the introduction of the upcoming 'Ambulation' patch, as it does represent a huge mile stone in EvE Onlines continued evolution.

Between 12:00 and 15:00 gmt today there will be the last 4 instant giveaway alerts during the DJ Dawny and Whitey show. There will also be an additional 2 codes given away by Dawny and Whitey during this 3 hour block, meaning there are 6 chances to get a mission code before the finale kicks off at 18:00 gmt.
During Jack-Pott's 15:00 - 18:00 show there will be BONUS alerts going off where Eve Store goodies will be up for grabs. Same rules apply to these.
And then lets not forget, a total of 5 PLATINIM instant draw tickets will be given out during the finale show hosted by FunkyBacon with special guest CCP Navigator from 18:00 gmt tonight, followed by the draw for the Complete Faction Battleship Model set being done at 20:30 gmt tonight.
This is the last chance to take part and win big with Eve Radio this year.

Question for Dev. Navigator.
I'm a sucker for city builders. I watched the fanfest vids and saw some of the planetary stuff in it and I got curious. Will eve (possibly?) feature some kind of city builder (lite?) in the future? As in placing (visible) buildings, choosing layout of a city and so on.
If above question isn't valid for whatever reason;
Will the bar/office station slots require standing?

Edited by: Sathrain on 21/12/2008 17:56:16 Navigator Qestions?
#1 I've read alot on the forums about CCP looking for ideas in changing how Soverignty works. Have or are you guys worked out a plan to change this. Most the ideas were more like how militia wars work capture X control points to get a chance to control a system etc. Instead of the way current POS system works.
#2 Eve radio has been supporting eve online for close to five years now. Where's the love? We the player base have been contributing to keep things going for all this time. And the DJ's have covered any loss's that we didn't come up. What would be the chance of some official CCP support for the station for all the work they've done and will continue to do? Be it in partial donations or support with help coming up with some rockin or funny music spots? As it is a solid foundation of publicity for CCP anyway I mean EveTV can get away with it and it's rubbish. 8 )

Navigator Questions (yes they're the obvious ones):
1. Could you give us the maximum size of the tech 3 ships, like classes, as in battleship, cruisers, and such? 1.1. If capitals are included in this, how would one build a tech 3 capital?
2. Shedding any idea on how one might get the tech 3 parts for the ships?
3. I read earlier that you can assemble and disassemble the ships to replace parts as needed, would capital ship refitting bays also reflect this change, or is it station only?

ERMC indicates codes given out to winners of individual DJ events during the week. All ETC and ISK winners from the main event also won an ERMC.
The final draw had 38 mission finalists and 5 Platinum ticket winners on the final night.
Not all ERMC winners completed their assignments and were therefore not entered into the grand final draw.
Overall winner Cleatus Snow lucked out on tuesday morning at approx 07:43 gmt in winning his ISK prize and ERMC.
Eji Casp, Sinastra and Mes Builder all won bonus Eve Store goodies on Jack-Pott's show right before the finale.
F.A.I.L Radio was put together to support a number of RP/kill missions used throughout the event and as such doesn't actually exist as a rival organisation. FAIL RADIO will return in some form in 2009 as part of our original comedy productions.
Apologies to anyone in our In Game Channel that fell for it (That's actually most of you - hang your heads in shame) who got trolled.

Hope they were fun for you guys.

Originally by: Cleatus Snow I was half asleep when I won the veldspar mission and grabbed trit instead. It was a fitting mission since I am one of those pesky miners =). thanks Eve radio!!
Quick question I was reading the announcement but i don't see it anywhere. For the model draw do we need to be online?
Quoting this for dramatic irony.

HAHA YAY!!!!!! EVE Radio ROCKS!!!!!!! This week has been so awesome in game with eve radio as my co-pilot. Thank you Mr Blades for all the time devoted to this competition and to all the DJs for making those mining/mission ops bearable. I started listening to Eve radio just after I started playing eve when some random pod pilot was spamming local with the link as he was heading to one of wiggles frig fights, and have been hooked ever since.
Today while I was at a early Xmas party I slipped into the back room to "fix" the computer and turned on Eve radio Just in time as the drawing was taking place, And when i heard my name i yelled out a nice long series of profanities and my wife came running across the house to the room looked at me jumping around like a little kid then at the pc and said "you won didn't you". I just smiled at her with big bright eyes.
Thanks for all the gratz eve-mails it means alot, and once again thanks eve-radio for everything you do.
