to be more specific, it's been tens of thousands of years since the eve gate collapsed, so if the Terrans are still alive and kicking, they would most likely be immensely more powerful than anything in New Eden - case in point, a Terran weapon one-shotted an entire minmatar elder fleet, (and caused a chain reaction that destroyed a few planets and opend up wspace in the process), and it's a 20k+ year old model! :P

I'd rather see Eve's interface improved, more depth into what we currently have, and WiS completed before Jove or any other lore-related stuff is looked at.
That's just me, of course. |

Bubanni wrote:Everyone are retards when they talk about the Jove... look back a little, it wasn't long ago that the jove were actually flying macheriels, cynabals and dramiels... those were the old version of Jove ships...
If anything, adding new jove ships would be awesome because of the designs, and really... you guys are retards when you expect a single Jove ship to be so powerful, they are far from immortal.
So says the ******. Those ships you are talking about are based very loosely on possible Jovian designs. As for seeing Jovian ships, they have made numerous appearances over the years, albeit flown by CCP staff members playing as Jovian's. To the guy who said something about us being a Jove warrior caste, you really aren't remembering your "fluff" at all.
The Jovian's left the New Eden area of EVE not that long after everyone was settled in so that they could progress unhindered. The four main races continued on after the collapse of the EVE gate, though at almost barbaric levels, while the Jovian's continued to flourish. In order to keep balance between the races once they had achieved spaceflight, and to stave off another attack by the Amarr empire, the Jovian's gave POD technology to the Caldari who then licensed it to everyone else, thus kicking off the Empyrean Age otherwise known as the time of the POD pilot.
As for ever making the Jovian's a playable race, that is never going to happen, they are now merely a part of the tapestry of the history of EVE, nothing more. And as for having the Jovian's make an appearance again, that may yet come to pass as it seems there is more mention of them in the new EVE novel. Numbers of terminally stupid people seem to be on the increase, I suggest we have a real life Stupidageddon to rectify this issue. |

Its ok to me. The core of EVE is the impact of massive players, new stuff just gives you some fresh experience, but its not gona change the game at all. |

Rek Seven wrote:An idea i had a while ago would be to have one randomly spawning wormhole in New Eden that leads Jovian space and once a certain number (between 1-5) of people pass through it, it closes.
In these wormholes you could stumble upon an archaeological site that contains an abandoned Jovian ship that has some unique and overpowered functions. Only 4 (for example) of the ships could exist in New Eden at one time. When a pilot enters one of these ships, they gain access to a private chat channel where they can communicate with the pilots of the other 3 Jovian ships
On their own the ships would be comparable to a T3 but slightly better in almost every way but when these Jovian ships work together, they have the ability to link there weapons together producing massive damage, with the maximum damage output being equivalent to a doomsday when all 4 ships link their weapon systems.
The catch... you can't dock in a Jovian ship and when it's destroyed, it returns the archaeological site in the Jovian wormhole. I had a similar idea a few years ago back when CCP held an exploration contest for one week.
For the contest, CCP had decreased the Signal Strength on all Cosmic Signatures for a week. Players had to locate 5 different sites, take a screen shot of each site with the scanning window open showing type of site, site name and probes locked on at 100%. All of the contest entries had to be submitted by the end of that week and a random drawing was done to pick out 10 winners. Prize was a $50 Voucher for the Eve Online Store with free Shipping and Handling.
I was one of the 10 winners. \o/ I got a few different things from the Eve Online Store.
1x Eve Poker Deck
2x Eve Coozie
1x Eve Minmatar Shot Glass
1x Eve Gallente Shot Glass
1x Eve Caldari Shot Glass
1x Eve Amarr Shot Glass
Seems I got side tracked a bit. Anyway, this is the idea I got while doing that contest.
CCP informs all players via Eve Mail that the Jove have discovered a new unknown cosmic signature - The Jovian Waypoint - which will randomly appear anywhere within the Eve Universe for a total of 10 times during a specific time period (2 weeks). Capsuleer's are advised to investigate this asap. No threat detected at this time and no other information available.
After the site is scanned and warped to, there's a Jovian NPC in an escape Pod who informs you he needs help to get back home and asks if you would give him a lift. (There's only one option in the message box - Yes.)
After clicking yes, the Jovian NPC is now an item in your cargohold and a wormhole opens up in front of your ship. The Jovian NPC informs you it's safe and can only be entered by you with him in your ship. (He's the key)
The wormhole transports your ship to The Polaris System where you're greeted by a Jove Commander ship (CCP Dev) thanking you for helping. He takes you on a guided tour of the system, fleet warping with voice comms, and then asks you to help test out a new ship. After docking in a Polaris Station and changing into the Jove ship, you undock and fleet warp to a training center where he explains the various modules fitted and tactics pertaining to range, duration, effect, etc.
Suddenly the Jove Commander informs you that his sensors show hostiles (CCP Devs) enroute, to prepare for battle and follow his commands. PvP action happens with the hostiles quickly taking damage resulting in the fleet being victorious. The Jove Commander thanks you for the assist and for your own safety must send you back to Empire space.
After you've switched back into your ship, the Jove Commander fleet warps you back to the wormhole and informs you that your visit is being recorded (CD Disk) and a copy will be sent to your place of residence after you enter the wormhole and return to Empire space. He also asks you to keep this visit confidential until after you receive the recording of your visit which should arrive within a couple of weeks.
After returning, the wormhole closes behind you and in your cargohold is a 'Jovian Medal Of Honor'.
Yeah I know, but it's still a nice dream.

Sleepers are Talocan are Jove.
When the Jove banned AI research, a splinter faction arose to continue the research: the Talocan. Their drones emerged and, recognizing the genetic abnormalities plaguing the race, mistook them for diseased and quarantined them all. Now they lay in cryogenic sleep; they are the sleepers.
Sad thing is, my friend and i figured this out literally two days before they released the solution to this two year old riddle. We were going to write a chronicle and everything, but alas.

wow wasnt aware it flopped when did that happen? It still looks going to me (though iot IS funny they tossed out the storyline before the first expansion... allowing Sith to be jedi lol) I did love all the star wars fans crowwing how theyd be the first mmo to have a full million subs all their first year tho (as a bioware I think guy said tat was what was required JUST for them to break even)
it's down to another 200,000 subs, floating at about 1 million now.
which is failing nowadays, apparently. I remember when everquest got to 50,000 subs and it was front page news in every gaming mag. Why dust 514 is on Console and not PCBattle field 3 salesXbox 360: 2.2 millionPlayStation 3: 1.5 millionPC: 500,000 |
