My question is does this mean that if i have just one Invul Field running, when i my shields get below 25% if i have the skill at lvl 5 i will now become invulnerable to any and all damage?
Think ur kinda mistaken there :P
That skill is independent of shield hardeners. It simply means that with each subsequent level, u are less likely to recieve armour damage when you still have some shield left.
E.G. No skill, u have 10% of your shield left, and you start taking damage to armour even though some shield is still there.
With that skill to level 1, the chance of this happening is reduced. With the skill at 5 this can never happen, (at 5 all of your shield must be gone before you can take armour damage).
No idea how you mistook that for becoming invulenrable, or that it needs a hadener lol, but its a learning experience. EVE history

Originally by: Brother Priad Well it's the skill for using the hardeners, just how i read it :p
Now, as we're in the fittings section currently for my Raven i have this for a tank -
1x T2 XLSB 2x T2 Invul Fields
...the 3 remaining slots are a named cap booster, named target painter and a named warp disruptor. As the other ships in gang all have warp disruptors would it be a better use of a slot to switch it with a shield extender? Or something else?
Youll need a mwd, no question (Im assuming this is pvp of course) EVE history

I still reckon an mwd is vital on any pvp ship. Burning to range, reapproaching gates after just jumping etc.
If an mwd doesnt fit than hell even an ab will do. Besides, theres no other mod that wld be more useful anyway. EVE history

Originally by: Brother Priad ok, well ignoring an ab or mwd, is the tank ok? should a extender be fitted or is it enough, i do plan on having a full crystal set
Dont fit an extender, that tank seems fine for pvp use. I really recommend a speed mod in that last mid, and I agree with EFT warrior, experience should come first before you spend too much to try achieve the best before you get into pvp.
If you really dont want the speed mod, maybe a cap recharger II/cap extender may help with cap stability but thats about all I can think off... EVE history
