I was listening to eve music today, and I noticed that the song "Theme from Jita" sounds very very similar to a song from Black Moth Super Rainbow, called Jump into My Mouth and Breath the Stardust
Listen for yourself. It's just the melody that is the same. |

OMG, you're telling me EVE music was made by humans, not aliens from an apocalyptic future?

Linkage Linkage That is suspiciously similar.
Atleast from a legal standpoint. Theme from Jita is just 'similar'.

If you had enough time and patience, and access to enough recorded music, you could find huge similarites between all the songs on the playlist and something else. You could do it with nearly any album, that's just the way music is... It doesn't mean the song was copied or plagarised. Only incredibly, incredibly avant garde music is 'original' imo, and even then only to some extent.

I still say "Theme from Jita" doesn't sound nothing like it should be. It should sound like elevator music, because that fits with Jita :p

Music follows standard rules or it just sounds like a jumble of random notes. Certain notes go well together and if you're musically minded, you can almost predict how a melody is going to go from the first few notes when you hear it for the first time. I've done it several times when my friend has shown me his latest composition and often get strange looks from him because I'm humming the tune and hit the odd wrong note occasionally but not often
As a songwriter, you have to follow those rules which means that your original song could sound like several others already made. There are a finite number of combinations of notes that can fit together to make a tune and it stands to reason that there are going to be several songwriters that hit those same combinations at some stage.
Edit: Try The theme tune to the film 'Dune' and then listen to "Mars" from Holst Planet Suite (classics FTW).
