Are there any screenshots of what Eve looked like in it's early days?

The visuals were the same as what's now called classic graphics mode.
There was just less stuff in play. No POS, no capitals, no tractor beams, no salvaging. Only 4 ship types: Frigs, Cruisers, BS and Indus. Only T1. No cloaking. No heat. Scanner and overview were simpler.
The drone regions weren't accessible back then. Black Rise region didn't exist yet.
The outer rim jump routes between the remote 0.0 regions didn't exist yet and neither did the conquerable npc stations in outer regions.
Alliances had no in-game support. You could only figure out if somebody was in an alliance if he mentioned so in his bio.
Only 1 wallet section and corporate missed some of todays tabs and options.
No target signature/resolution. Sub-BS ships could fit torps and cruise missiles and any number of AB/MWD (assuming enough grid/cpu - and there was only 1 size AB and MWD - not 1/10/100).
Belts weren't strip mined and there were no BS sized rats (good because nobody had BS yet :-) ). --- Save the forum: Think before you post. ISK BUYER = LOOSER EVE TV- Bring it back!

i remember the good ol' open beta days when we only had THREE shiptypes and only few had enough cash to fly cruisers. Getting the 100 million fee for a BS seemed like an impossible task, and we had heard faint rumors about these so called "industrial" class ships that would be able to carry huge ammounts of cargo and even refine the arkonor rocks we were mining in our velators in low sec :D ___________________________

I miss that old audio attenuation trick they did with the combat sounds. It was really atmospheric.

I remember the silver spinning box logo, all the windows had hard square edges pretty crappy color. And when I got my merlin I was thinking I was the schtuff (not with this char mind you) one day a caracal came along, invited me to gang. like a fool I accepted and he popped me quick like. I remember telling myself...."I gotta get me one of those ! They are badass." LOL.
Ahh from '03 until now, times have surely changed.
Here's a question for the older players, who had the first Titan ever ? And what type ?

The fist was build by ASCN, flown by Cyvok.
I think it was an Avatar.

and Cyvok was also the first to loose his titan. it was a clever tactic that used the aggression timer. a spy was in ASCN with access to their comm channels, he had Cyvok locked and when he logged out, the spy shot a missile at him. those few hitpoints were the doom of Cyvoks titan: the aggression timer kicked in and the titan did not disappear properly. Red Alliance (iirc) blobed the unpiloted titan and took it down (mostly with bs). ---- Ceterum censeo blasters need some tracking love |

Ahh the good ol' days. Of course the politics were every bit as wild and crazy...I'd say a bit more epic in some respects.
Ragnar's Hat comes to mind. Curse Alliance (version 1) vs. most o' the world. The wacky early days of Crusaders 10k, Biomass Cartel, MOo, Spaced Invaders. The old timers will either shudder, laugh or both at the mere mention of Lord Zap. Empire ganks, no gate to gate jumping (that was actually part of EVE's intensity for me as it was a crap shoot whether you'd get to your destination IN EMPIRE high sec sometimes due to pirate activities).
The eve map updated basically in real time. And oh...we used to have space mines. lag-o-matics was what our corp used refer to them.
And here in the forums, oh gods it was awesome. The smack and righteous warfare of the major alliance folks was a never ending joy to read. (not kidding...compared to today's short bus crap, the stuff back then could mean the difference between winning and losing.)
Good days.
That all said, the downside were bugs bugs bugs, limitations out the wazz, isk was hard to generate for most folks, and the population was tiny compared to today. But gods was it fun.

Battleships didn't come out right away. It was just frigs/cruisers.
when battleships did come out, they put the fear of god into you. Especially when you could hit a dual mwd frig going 15kms+ at 100+KM or 1km with a 425mm with no tracking problems. :)
First group that had BS and used them were m0o. I remember engaging them in about a dozen cruisers somewhere in fountain and it was scary as hell

Ah, good ol times. I very much prefer the old UI style, still. It had a silverish look, and a cold metal feel. And space actually wasnt that cluttered, but that might just because of the much higher player count these days.

imo the biggest difference was in density of population the space really felt black, cold, and lonely
a lot of gates appeared and disappeared (still have instas for non-existing gates ;])
0.0 was a completely different story to what it is now
it was all a bit more harsh and scary
and oh... lets not forget about dual mwd torp ravens =)
