Yeah I really wish I would have stuck with the game over the years instead of being on off. Love the original UI. Why did they get rid of a UI for the scanner? Please Vote DjLowballer as your delegate to the CSM! |

Ah... the good old days.
I remember the days before the Autopilot.
I remember the days back in beta, where the map only worked for empire space, and you could make a career out of mapping the gates in Syndicate, so that people could travel through the another empires space on the other side...
Good stuff!

Originally by: Chi Quan and Cyvok was also the first to loose his titan. it was a clever tactic that used the aggression timer. a spy was in ASCN with access to their comm channels, he had Cyvok locked and when he logged out, the spy shot a missile at him. those few hitpoints were the doom of Cyvoks titan: the aggression timer kicked in and the titan did not disappear properly. Red Alliance (iirc) blobed the unpiloted titan and took it down (mostly with bs).
wow...the missinformation..m8 it was actualy bob that poped the titan but it is true they used moustly bs
anyway back on track...eve hase evolved quite a lot from wen it started...played beta and rejoned in 2005..good times...no super blobs :P RO

The builds themselves might exist, but without the databases to connect them to, they're essentially useless

Woah! Nice screenies, thanks for posting. The last one with the mining drones looks pretty cool - even the lasers looked better then :)
The first post, June 2000 - Orion.. now that is SCARY LOL.

Also. Those mining drones are freakin scary.

Thank you so much for posting those pictures.
I was cleared for beta testing but lost my internet connection shortly afterwards. Would have loved to have tried struggling with the original releases AI and switching to view low, mid and hi slots. Looks well fiddly.

Originally by: Goyda I remember the silver spinning box logo, all the windows had hard square edges pretty crappy color. And when I got my merlin I was thinking I was the schtuff (not with this char mind you) one day a caracal came along, invited me to gang. like a fool I accepted and he popped me quick like. I remember telling myself...."I gotta get me one of those ! They are badass." LOL.
Ahh from '03 until now, times have surely changed.
Here's a question for the older players, who had the first Titan ever ? And what type ?
- ASCN built the first Titan. - An Avatar named Steve. - BoB killed it after Cyvok ' disconnected '

Amazing stuff. I came in January of '04 and from my perspective the changes since then have been a series of minor tweaks but those screenies show a total evolution.

Wow, from 2000 to 2008, did you guys at CCP ever imagine it would become what it is today? If you dont mind answering, what were your goals for the game back then? And how have they changed today? I dont know any other game that has consistantly moved forward over such a long period of time, it would be interesting to hear more about the evolution of Eve.

Dont tell me you have never heard about the Mother of all MMORPG games - ULTIMA ONLINE ? Belive me, it is older than Eve (released in 1997) and its still developed and eve as many other games is very similar to it in many many aspects.

I remember the New caldari event since someone mentioned Lord Zap earlier in this thread. A jove diplo was coming to New caldari to introduce mobile jumpgates. 300 ppl had gathered in system and nearby systems were full to. Beware that this was ALOT of ppl in these days.
Anyways, things took alot of time and many got impatient. So Lord Zap and some other guys went for it. Concord came in in numbers and Zap + more kept wasting them. gms or devs (dont remember) was attacked and it was a complete havoc in local.
The jove guy never came ofc as he blew up on the way.

I must say I'm impressed by that evolution from pre-alpha to alpha to beta. Games look so complete these days is hard to imagine what the evolution was like, and its great to see even in the earliest stages some elements were as solid as they are now.
I would like to ask though, that last screenshot with the mining drones... there seems many of them (and a reduction to max 5 was of course to come I assume), but the graphics for them 'lasering' the roid seems much improved on what mining drones do nowadays. Am I missing something? Would be great to see your drones doing such things while mining

"Woof. Mine that asteroid!"
But agreed, these mining drones in the last screenshot looked amazing. Also, the damaged (?) Raven also looks awesome - it's leaking fire, smoke and air from every seam! Now that's a damage model...

not much mention of XETIC at one point in 2004 built up rapidly to 22000 members if i remember correclty and controlled about 70% of 0.0 until it broke itself apart and bob climbed over the top of it. That was like the NC and the Southern regions except delve and fountain i think all banded up together. Havent seen anything that big since
