Hi guys, for the first time in a while I had to warp out of a mission. It was a lvl4 Serpentis Blockade and I was being stomped on by HACs.
I fly a standard Domi tank (I.e. 2 LAR t2, 3 active hardener, DCU t2 and cap relay) I was wondering if someone could confirm which active hardeners to use for Serps and which drones to use? I can use light and med t2, and t1 heavies from all races.
All help appreciated.
Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.

Serp Does: Therm/Kin Damage to do: Therm/Kin (forget which one is better, not big difference) Drones to use: Hammerhead on HAC, Goblin on Frigate. Sentry on anything not on top of you.

So, Gallente drones above Caldari? Should I swap out the DCU for a 4th active hardener in this case? What do you think about using Ogres against the HACs?
Thanks for the advice so far.

Kinetic is better against Serpentis, and Guri/Eom too for that matter, so Wasps/Vespas over Ogres/Hammers. However, if you use sentries, the large difference in raw dps as well as tracking, between Gardes and Wardens make Gardes the better choice, as long as you don't go much into Garde falloff.
Serpentis do more Therm then kin damage to you, but even so, 2/2 therm/kin hardeners is still the best choice.
Yes, drop the DCU, BUT if your tank is failing, warp out sooner since your hull will be gone in seconds should you run out of armor.

The Blockade is a nasty mission for drone ships regardless - Agro on drones is hard to avoid without putting yourself in harms way. Personally I use one Kinetic Hardener, one Thermic and one Energised Adaptive Nano - plus a DCU (all T2) for Serp missions but I switch to a turret ship for missions like this one (or bring friends). --

Maybe dust off Megathron or try Raven? Is it worth squeezing on a sensor booster to try and combat the dampening?

I afk Sansha Blockade regularly, no drone aggro from them. Been a while since I did Serps version, is the aggro really different by NPC?

Iirc you'll still be damped down to around ~20km some of the time, with a sensor booster, but usually not for that long.
Like Sansha take my Tachyon optimal from 100km down to 11km, meaning there's almost no difference between short and long range ammo. That's the reason I don't do Sansha Blockade with a turret ship anymore, too annoying.

I think I might chalk this down to experience and call in the guys if I get this one again.
Cheers all.

I used a domi with two therm one kin activ, two eanm all t2 with a lar t2 and a beta reactor cpr and it tanked that one just fine. as above use the ogre t2 and some hobs and hammers and just try to watch aggro on drones i had no problems with it in domi , solo just requires some diligence on drones. friends not needed * please adjust the size of your signature image to no more than 400x120 - CCP Fallout |

I think I weighted my tank wrongly. I will try this again using 2 therm, 1 kin and DCU 2 tonight. I will see how I get on.

Dont change out drones, just use your Hammerheads and hobgoblins, what they lack in damage type, they make up for in damage multiplier. ______________________________________________________________________________________________

Sigh.

No, they don't. See for yourself: elfarto or Orekaria Then also check out tracking vs orbit speed and mwd speed of the drones in question.
(Though both still use the old DB, to my knowledge Serp dmg/res was not changed in QR)

Right then. This is what I will try.
2 Kin and 2 Therm active hardeners. Full contingent of Caldari drones, and see how I got on.
I mentioned earlier about using heavies against cruisers and above. What are your thoughts on that? They appeaer to have very similar resolution radii and should therefore be able to hit relatively well???
