I just looked up the actual statistical chance of you getting 1/7 successes or less with a 50% chance or success, and it is... 6.25% Now that is hardly statistically significant. Redo that experiment with 100 or 1000 tests, and then get back to me if you still only get 14% success.
To put it a different way, just because you flip a coin 7 times and it only comes up heads once, isn't a valid reason to claim the coin is biased.

Invention has been working fine for over a year now, there is no need to change it. If you don't like how it works then move on to something else.

eh, i dunno if it needs fixing..
i would say with mods, my average is 50-55%... sometimes it gets all funked up and i fail 9 outa 10.. but that's life. another day 9 out of 10 pass...
most i've ever had in a row would be 13, come out (10, then 3 straing the next batch).. the most failures in a row was 42--i was so ****ed i petitionedit, asking if it was broke... they said no, it wasnt... but then i started passing them again. *I* think it was broke for a bit, even if jsut that one mod.
ships is a whole other story for me.. i have mech engineering @ 5 (others @ 4).. and i CANNOT, on any ship, ever, get above 25%. i used to do keres a lot, and the kitsune.. but @ that rate, i just dont make isk anymore. i've been known to buy copies however, if they're profitable.
lost 500m once trying to get a Sin invented. never got one.
so, i just dont do ships.. the stars are aligned against me.
and i've also cut WAAAAYYYY back since that POS exploit thing.. half the things i used to invent are market-glutted, and lose isk (which makes me wonder why/how ppls are still makin them).
and now i'm nearly broke..
but invention is still jsut fine! :p |

PS: I really did have 4 of 5 yesterday but with the 395 other inventions it evened out at the expected rate for my skills.

Edited by: Tandin on 08/01/2009 19:07:16 I've found on modules and ammo I tend to get around a 60% success rate. Ships tends to be lower (around 40%) but I'm not too upset with it. My industry char has level 4's on just about everything in the science category involved with invention so that's the baseline I go with.
That said, I usually do batches of 4 runs (I use my other research slots for ME/PE/Copying) and I've had 3/4 and 0/4 sets before.
It's essentially random and I wouldn't get to upset with it.
