Hi folks. Santa's #2 Elf here,
We should publish a new chronicle on Monday, December 22. But we won't. Instead, we want you to wait a little bit longer; savor the excitement and thrill at the thought of what we're bringing you: Two new chronicles, one by me and one by master CCP Gnauton.
They will be here on Christmas Day. And they will bring something remarkable to the world of New Eden.

Jamyl did what?
Now polling the latest news page with sore fingers.
First one was a good read and I again liked the contrast/similarity between the nations. Second one was readable, but much less entertaining as a story to me.

Delicious stories, both. The first one is a fascinating comparison of the Amarr and the Gallente. The second begins with useful details about daily life in lower Amarr society, and develops into a shocking historical event. The repercussions of both will be very intriguing to watch for.
Also, both pieces of accompanying art are strikingly beautiful. _____________________________ ¬DesuSig |

Guess I've always thought too good of the Gallente then.
Also, what's up with the ninja editing from ni-kunni to minmatar slave in Chained to the sky? News article still mentions an Amarr slave

Edited by: petlogger on 25/12/2008 23:22:56 I have read all of the current story arc and the novel and really enjoyed the writing and appreciate the hard work the writing staff have put into them. Today's 'climax' (I hope there is so much more to come) came to me whilst I was in a bad place from hearing about Eartha Kitt's passing (I like old soul music so shoot me) and just made the two deaths story even more powerful.
Absolute kudos for that one, after reading the emancipation proclamation and its associated story you hit this very powerful show of exactly where the empires are starting to head. The Amarr becoming more affable and reformed but dealing with its issues internally, quietly and ruthlessly and the Gallente who now need the huge public displays to rouse its populaces support and opinion. I really hope the coming year shows more of these fantastic storylines and maybe there will be a quiet story about how the Empress colluded to give the Gallente an enemy.
Anyway enough slightly drunken waffle, thank you for one of the best pieces of literature I've received at Christmas for a while.

Woah . . . loved those both. Also, the Gallente are starting to look like bad guys and the Amarr not as bad . . . this is good!
I wonder if Gnauton has been reading posts on the IGS where I and others explain that Amarr slavey isn't all about whips and chains, and that there are a lot of problems with suddenly freeing a large number of slaves . . . that story was a wonderful validation of all our arguements. And had lots of neat info about everyday life in Amarr besides.
I loved it, both of them!

I'm not much in game atm and this is reflected by Mebs activity, but even she had to rewatch the Federation execution.
I loved both stories, one was light and punchy with impact, while the other was heavy, loaded with gravity and fulfilling.

both stories are nice reads!
however not having an emperor/empress for over a 1000 days, then getting a deus ex machina (psycho-psychic-zombie-jamyl) fed that needs a major incursion to be accepted publicly as she breaks about every tradition there is, who continue to, well do crazy stuff, is a little shocking on the average loyal capsuleer....
where is this leading?
i'm tense with anticipation of what you are pulling next

Hehe. I suppose someone new to the game/story might expect the Minmatar RP factions to be all elated and joyous about the news, but the mood yesterday can be better described as widespread paranoia than anything else.

Was the news post rewritten? As I read it now the meaning is clear. Ninja-edits and lots of wine during the holidays are leaving me a tad confused

Yamyl freeing the slaves came as rather a shock. It seems rather out of place, even if it only affects a small portion of the total slave population. Even from the chronicle there doesn't seem to be a reason for doing it. What would be the gain received from it? I can't think of a single on, not matter how supposedly well covered all the angles are.
The same a bit with the two death's chronicle. I can see how the 'role-reversal' between the Amarr and the Gallente would be interesting, but the show-process seems a bit tacky, and the whole execution idea is somewhat contrived. I can hardly see a thoughtful Intaki like Foiritan ditch his reserved behaviour he has cultivated over decades.
I can't help that be feel that the chronicles have been written mostly for shock-value, and haven't really been thought through ... -- Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |
