Here is an update on where things are at with the API and where they are going.
We have the Singularity API server hardware and Operations are getting it ready for us. So you should see a API Test server sometime in the New Year. This will not be generally available. You will have to request that your API Keys get created on this server, but it will have smaller cache times to allow for testing and development. CCP Elerhino will keep you up to date on this as he finalises the process.
As mentioned at the fanfest we are looking into a new replication service that will allow us to move the API service from directly querying the Tranquility DB to having a dedicated database that is replicated with TQ. This will allow more freedom in what we code for the API service as we will not directly impact TQ performance. CCP Whisper and the good team in Operations are working hard on making this happen but it is still some way down the track yet.
The processes for the Static Data Export have been handed over to Deployment and it is now built as we build the client so it should be released in the same week as clients going forward.
Other than that, I wish you all a very Merry, non-denominational, seasonal greeting and a happy New Year.
It has been great fun working with you all here in the EVE Technology Lab and I wish you all the best as I return to New Zealand.
Cheers.

Glad to hear it's still on the road map. Really looking forward to what DB replication could bring. --------------------------------------

Thank you for the update on where things stand, and it's good to hear progress is being made.
You are one of the people who, in their time at CCP, has given me faith in EVE and CCP. It'll be a shame to see you go.
I do hope Elerhino will step up to the plate as a great communicator when it comes to the API. Such a project demands good communication between users and developers (Or developers and developers, in this case), and Lingorm, you've done a brilliant job when it comes down to that.

I second this motion. It's a great shame that we're losing Lingorm - it will be an even greater shame if no one else steps up to the plate to be the public face of the API project, and lets it languish in the process. I know Elerhino isn't as fond of us and/or outgoing as Lingorm, but it goes without saying that we're going to appreciate his presence now more than ever.
Thanks for all of the hard work Lingorm, and enjoy the NZ summer while the rest of us are freezing to death. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

*sad* You were very awesome. I don't know what you're moving on to, but hopefully it's bigger, better, and more awesome for you in every way. Thanks for your time spent with the community - it's wonderful to be involved with a game like Eve where common players can do so much and actually talk to devs without an act of God.

Many thanks for the time you spent with the API and with us on this forum here, Lingorm.
Good luck with whatever you are going to do next. Enjoy New Zealand. I've been told it is a wonderfull place and is still high on my list "places to visit".
