I find myself with no direction or clear goals in EVE. I have been playing EVE for about 2 years. I did exploration for a few months and that was ok. I ran missions. (boring) Joined a low sec corp. (ok too but still kind of boring) Moved out to Null for a month. (Null sec sucked pretty bad imho) My sub will run out in ~25 days and even though i have several billion ISK i can't think of a good reason to log in and buy a plex.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get some fun out of the game? Perhaps i am just burnt out and should try something else. And to all the can i have your stuff people no you may not. I will just let it sit and rot and hope that at some point there is something fun in the game i want to try again later.

Just about every player in EVE runs into this at some point. I have been in this game long enough to actually go through it several times. I only made the mistake of unsubbing once though.
Sandboxes are great cause you can do what you want, the bad part is they give you no direction, you have to decide that yourself.
Best to play something else for a few days while you think about what you want to do next. One of the reasons I actually want Incarna, with a bunch of little sub games or something different in it. It would give you a change of pace while you figure out what to do next. But you can't do that yett so you will have to find a different game for a bit.
YOu have 25 days, so keep up your training and just relax a bit. Hopefully something will come to you. |

Wormholes are definitely worth looking into, or if you intend to lose all that isk you could but fancy t3s and go pvp.
I find the most important factor in EVE is the people you're flying with, no matter what you're doing it's boring with the wrong group of people. Mission running, exploration, pvp, mining, etc... they're all fun when you're on vent with a bunch of crazy people, but not so good alone. |

Yeah. Wormholes. Enough said.
Only reason I'm not in a WH now is because I'm busy working on different things that require constant interaction with the "outside" world. But I'll say they are really fun.

Wormholes are a thought. I guess i could look into joining a wormhole corp.
Going outside is always a good option but alas it is just about the time of year here when the snow starts to fly. I am going to need some game to make it through.

I will keep training until my time is up. I am currently training Amarr Carriers V on my main i would need to add a plex to have it finish though. Just training some core skills on my Tengu pilot. Mini games would be nice though. I would like a slot machine in my CQ |

I think shes got it right there,
"I find the most important factor in EVE is the people you're flying with"
It seems to me that you need to make some good friends in eve to do activities with, that's when it becomes fun. This is a social game, more so than most are willing to admit. |

Bolded/underlined all you need to know mate. Decide which aspects of the game interest you the most and then put some effort into locating a corp that suits what it is you'd like to keep doing. Get to know your corpies well, dont be another number and get involved.
After a long break myself and recently returning I found myself in the same situation. I'm still looking for the right corp but I know once i've found what I'm looking for I'll be home for good.

It is only a matter of time before you have done pretty much every aspect of EVE and stuck with the ones you found the most fun or the ones you most wanted to do and then in the end after years of doing those you try to look for something new and there isnt really much to do..
The need for new content is pretty serious at the moment.. Especially now when it looks like its not being focused on
Im one of those people who is sort of looking forward to the walking in stations, mini games and seeing other players walking around.. But that is taking forever and i expect after that they may or may not focus on flying in space content but if they do it will take a long time to implement new content.. Especially cause im sure there will be alot of bugs and glitches to sort once incarna fully comes out..
Seems its going to be a long time before new content is added sadly
Maybe now is the best time for a break..

I find that when I start losing interest in any game, it's because I no longer have a goal that interests me. In single player games, the goal is obvious: Get to the end of the game, accomplish your character's goals, perform X incredibly difficult feat of skill, and so on. If those things cease to become meaningful or are no longer interesting, then I don't finish them.
Pretty much the same thing in EVE, only the goals in EVE are a lot more abstract, difficult to conceptualize, or just plain not interesting. "Become super rich" doesn't mean a lot, really. What keeps me playing EVE specifically is having a cause. The important thing is remembering that having a goal and having a cause are two different things. Causes are something worth being passionate about, whereas goals are just stepping stones to a future that you envision for yourself. So get mad at slavery; join a roleplaying corp dedicated to abolishing it and have run ruining some slaver's day. Or just take up arms for truth and justice, build yourself a kingdom to rule fairly as a safe haven for like-minded people. If unsavory things are more your cup of tea, that works too - your cause can be malevolent, if that's what is interesting.
The best part of having a cause is that CCP can't nerf it; as long as it means something to you, and as long as you're doing something to further it, you will have fun and feel like you're accomplishing something. It's pretty much the only way to "win" the sandbox. |

I just want to say thanks to everyone who posted a suggestion. After further consideration i think it is time to walk away from EVE at least for a few months. I will just read the forums from work until i see something that makes me want to come back. Fly Safe or if you can't do that have fun getting blown up.
And for the people who want stuff i should send you 1 ISK each a year for the next few billion years. But that would take effort. |

I've been through that phase several times (in one right now), I'm completely underwhelmed by EVE atm and CCP will have to do a damn good job to turn that around. Take a break; perhaps a month, perhaps 3 or longer. Or maybe you'll decide that you won't come back at all.
Use your isk to buy plex and keep training but not actually play the game for a bit, because if you decide that you don't want to come back to EVE then all you lost is some isk, which you won't care about. And if you DO come back you'll have trained in the mean time and you can make that isk back.

The game is what it is and once you get to where you are at now it is the moment where geeks will be geeks and all others leave.
I have noticed lately that the game is consistently short some 10,-15,000 players so don't think you are alone in your feelings. |
