Look at the sticky thread at the top of this forum. Grab Halada's mining guide and read it. It doesn't tell you about character, but does tell you what skills you're going to need. Primarily you're going to have a lot of intelligence/memory skills along with a number of perception/willpower ones (for the ships). Drones are usually memory/perception, so those four attributes are what you should start with. Play around with race/bloodline/education; you can get Mining V and Refining V as starting skills. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

download this.
choose plug in character creation from the top menu items
choose the end skills you want.
wait for bar to go across as it tries every possible starting character options to get the one that takes the shortest amount of time to reach your end goal.
Wonderful program for deciding what race to start as, as well as which professions to be in that race, and what your starting stats should be.

The main emphasis on the face of it is the need for high intelligence and memory, as a lot of the skills you want to train are science/industry based.
Don't do it to the complete detriment of perception and willpower though as you will be training to get into the mining ships (Hulk is the obvious goal) and those are the attributes needed.
So, heavy bias towards int and mem, lean a bit towards perc and will. You'll lose a few days on training for the ships but in the long run, you'll save so much time training the others that it more than makes up for it.
This toon is a year and a half younger than my other character but has more skill points simply because of training skills that my attributes lend themselves to, and I have the likes of Caldari BS V (mission runner as well), and Exhumers V. They hurt (time taken was about a week more than with my other character), but like I said, I caught up in other areas.
I'll try to do a little research to figure out which balance of attributes I'd recommend. I don't think it matters which race or bloodline you take as by the time you are top notch, skill wise, the odd day here or there you save by picking one race or another won't matter.

And don't gimp your charisma, if you want standing with the alt to get the best refines, the social skills will be murder with a based charisma of 3...
If your main wants to train the refining skills and has the standing already, by all means have an uncharismatic character.

Just rechecked, I have:
Intelligence at 8 Memory at 8 Perception at 9 Willpower at 8 Charsma at 6
This is all at base, before learning skills. Should I reroll?

the BEST, for a miner, that you can do is a gallente...
ii'm pretty sure that... what ever i am, is the race/bloodline ya have to go for... gallente - reborn (think it's in the detetis or what ever bloodline)
when u went to make it, if you want the best mining skill training time.. then boost the memory from 12 ot 15... AND, either the intel a +2 boost from 8 to 10... OR, for training ships.. a boost on the percep from 3 to 5...
ME, as a combined invention/mining alt.. i started with stats of 11 intel, 6 charisma, 5 intel, 11 mem, and 6 willpower... and in the end i will train mining skills 9% faster than any caldari setup, and invnetion 3% slower than any caldari (who have the fastest for that). Ships is another story, it'll be 10% slower, or more... BUT, the question comes up, that, if this is a mining skill specific alt, ... how much is going to go into ships? if you train mining/engeineering/science/electronics 4 to 1 compared to ships/guns/drones... then gallente is better.
gallente is better STILL, if you intend to train any leadership skills for mining.. because it doesnt have nerfed charisma.
just an idea.
i could give u so many details on this it'd drive a person mad just reading it..

I believe the best, assuming you want a Hulk as quickly as possible (around 60 days) is a Sebiestor Tinkerer/Engineer. There is a program, EveHQ I think it's called, that can tell you the best char to get to a desired set of skills. |

This is a mining question. Please refer to Halada's Mining Guide.
Alternately, read the post about Hulk in 55 days |
