I'd built my max targeting range up to 27km, but suddenly it's dropped down to 15km. My weps haven't changed, nor's my ship. I'm continuing to build on my Targeting and Long Range Targeting skills (both at lvl 3), so why has my range DECREASED ???
Any ideas? Suddenly I'm taking a kicking in combat where beforehand I was kicking arse...

Did you install a warp Core Stab? They reduce your targeting range 40% to 50% depending on type.

You're being sensor damped (Another ship is reducing your lock range/scan resolution via a Remote Sensor Dampener). --- Sig Starts Here --- Lord Haur - Imperial Academy Logistical Support

Bloody Hell - that's it! I never noticed the targeting penalty when I fitted it. Right - that's going in the bin then.
Kudos to the Lone Gunman

Well now I'm curious. How did they come up with the decision to reduce targeting time and range with an items that stabilizes your warping ability?

Because everyone was fitting a bunch of them on their pvp ships, Making it too easy to avoid having to commit to a fight. |

EPIC post... making me feel old.
Lots of people used to fit warp core stabs on combat ships without having any drawbacks, thereby making it super easy to leave pvp whenever they wanted. Lots of people fit more than 2 points back then.
Simple solution is to make warp core stabs a negative for combat so that only combat avoiders could fit them. |

ok, that makes sense, thanks. It doesn't hurt blockade runners but impedes on hit 'n' runs forcing them to think a little more. |
