Let's wait and see if Windows 7 lives up to hype, after all Vista never did, in fact I still use XP... |

Microsoft is a failure... i don't enjoy any of their products after 250 ths lifetime reinstallation of OS and resulting data loss.
It's been buggy since MS DOS. Spam, viruses, blue screen of death, awful support and never ending need for more repairs.
Although I can't play games in Mac OS, it hasn't failed in storing my audio tracks. I can't understand why users are so enthusiastic about Windows 7. As if another bite of a rotten pie is going to taste any better.
CCP is cooler than Microsoft and much more customer welcoming. |

Because this may be the *one* time in their history that they release a good OS? I've been playing with the beta and in all honesty ... it's more stable, quicker, and way more functional than my WindowsXP-SP3 tweaked OS.

7 is indeed good, but I don't understand the Vista hate, either. I run a tweaked Vista x64 Business, and it's fast and perfectly stable. Faster on my hardware, in fact, than XP was. |

Edited by: Navtiqes on 15/01/2009 09:46:23 CCP, you can see how this is a little bit comical, right? :) Ironical even.
Afterall, EVE isn't exactly known to have the best UI in the world. Seeing as it's often refered to as Windows 3.0 (see reference) in quality, and then you want to use that as a theme for Windows 7! ^^

Vista is the new Millenium. It's an inbetween package that all the businesses and schools blow a tonn of money on for no particular profit.

No offense, but this thread shows why there will always be Windows users....
One guy makes a theme pack and when it doesnt work, the rest of you does nothing to try and figure out what can be the reason. Instead you sit and wait for a fix. Thats a Windows user to me. Someone who is not interested in fixing something that doesnt work. Someone who wants to get but do not contribute.
Lazy bastards.

Well here's your contribution...
The problem can only be fixed by the guy who created said themepacks. I tried unpacking them with 7-zip in Vista and XP, but it complains that the wallpaper files included are corrupted. Because of this, the themepacks won't install under Windows 7.
I also tested the problem by downloading another theme from the official Microsoft website and that one installed fine.
This has to be fixed by the person who created the themepacks. Nothing to do with being a lazy Windows user.

And how did you find this out? By not being lazy. It might as well have been a problem you could fix.

Originally by: Kweel Nakashyn Ghostrider, does Eve works with windows 7 ?
Working like in "enter the first screens, launch the station and dedock" (and then crash a few minutes after, maybe, but you got it).
Yes it does, I'm running Eve on my secondary system that is running the following: AMD 5000+ Processor Asus M3A mobo 2 gigs RAM 80 gig SATA Hard Drive ATI X1650 Video Card (will be upgrading this to a 4850 soon)
What times I've been running Eve (premium) on my secondary account have been quite pleasant.
I may be wrong but right now its possible that Microsoft finally got something right, only complaint I have on Win7 is mainly the start menu, it needs to be a little cleaner and easier to navigate. |

I'm getting the error as well - Failed to install the theme.
Perhaps there have been an update on the theme system since this was done?

Eve really does work in Windows 7, and better for me than in XP. Not even kidding. Heres a couple images from the snipping tool:

Edited by: CCP Ghostrider on 01/02/2009 23:21:35 Sorry everyone, I didn't see the recent replies until now.
It seems the themepacks didn't upload correctly as the MD5 hashes of them don't match to the source ones I have on my machine at home.
I'll reupload them, along with a new one for Quantum Rise first thing in the morning :)

I reuploaded the themepacks (to Amazon S3 this time) and updated the first post with new links :).
Let me know if this still isn't working.
Just out of curiosity, those of you who have tested the Windows 7 beta, how are your impressions so far?

I'm one of these people that gets along very nicely with Vista atm. That being said W7 is soooooooo much faster than Vista in several areas, primarily the speed at which it boots up and shuts down.
I like the new features on the taskbar and programs seem to run very quickly.
My only problem I have found is if you leave W7 loaded and walk away leaving it to go into hibernation, on my rig it struggles to recover and I have to restart.
First impressions from a Vista users is "very good". --

Gonna try those themes when at home :) I am using W7 64-bit and EVE runs without a glitch, seems to be faster than in Vista 64-bit. Even that strange dip in FPS at regular intervals is gone. Not sure if this is OS related or driver related. Using the W7 drivers for my nVidia card, have not been fiddling with Vista drivers. So all in all W7 seems to be a clear improvement over Vista. |

changed all my computers to Win7 after testing a while an my old xp one :)
i really like the less memory usage and speed increase (esp. loading times seems to be much shorter)
and for a beta i was suprised how stable it runs (and its from microsoft oO) and in my case good driver support. direct after install everything was running fine :)
