Please, for the love of god no...
Surely the eve sandbox philosophy revolves more around "where shall I go?" and "what shall I do?" than "what will I wear?" and "does my bum look big in this?".
Even more so "no clothes, more interiors". This way the ugly with dignity will stay out, only the ones with good bums will come in and the ugly ones with no dignity. Let the fapping commence!
Imagine the PR! *fap fap fap* |

Have you even READ anything about walking in stations? It's not mandatory, you don't have to use if you don't want to. You can still sit in the ship if you fancy so. |

different races stations have different interiors however tho right Eris? ;)

Yes
amarr, caldari, minmatar and gallente are the station interiors. But there arenŠt any special pirate pirate faction, or any difference between a gallete high sec and a gallente low sec. |

Ignorance is bliss. I love it how people manage to miss all those "voluntary", "optional" and "free to use, but not forced" statements everywhere.

I don't imagine it would be that hard to implement, Just have a handful of overlay textures that are grime/rust, lights that are winking on and off. (it sounds like a lot of work but its really just modifying the base texture).
Then you run a seeding algorithm to distribute the overlays through a station randomly based on sec level.
Its not like we're asking you to add Fedo's crawling around in great piles of refuse. |

Given all the commentary on lighting from the fanfest video, surely the distinction between high and lowsec stations could easily be made using simply lighting effects with no new interiors required? After all, the lowsec stations would just be slightly run down equivalents of the high sec ones - broken lights and stuff like that wouldn't require a serious workload and would greatly increase the immersion for us dastardly types.

It's still empire, so that would be a pretty lame. Just adjusting the lighting is pretty lame in general. Open a bar and make your own dark and depressing home. If CCP is going to make more different interiors, they should do a faction/pirate stations and go crazy with new interior ideas. I wonder how a sansha battle station would look like on the inside. They look so aggressive and spiky on the outside, so the inside should be pretty interesting looking too.

To be frank Eris, I don't care if there are noticeable differences between hi and low sec stations. if they choose to put it in i won't complain, but it's not a priority for me personally.
What IS a priority for me is that I can make my very own "Gentleman's Club" complete with bar and "dancing poles" and barely (or non) clothed women to ogle.
Some kind of "age verification" function for the entrance would be nice as well, as I intend to make my club as "adults only" as possible.

Originally by: CCP Eris Discordia For the first release there wonŠt be any difference in stations in low or high sec because it would mean Art has to spend a lot of time on an item that wouldnŠt be used as much while we there tons of other things that would be used everywhere.
Maybe later there will be noticeable differences if people reaaaaaaaaaaaally want it.
While I can understand not doing it because of time and resource contraints, I have to say that not doing something like this can begin to defeat the purpose.
There are some players that don't care about ambulation as a feature at all. However all of the players that are looking forward to it are looking forward to some of the immersive properties it will offer.
If I doc in a pirate station out in the middle of low sec. Surrounded by player criminals, npc criminals, etc. I think the station should have a different feel to it then if I go into down town empire. |

Just add some adjustable "Grime" textures that get overlaid on the walls and floors -- the lower the sec, the grungier the place looks.

I would really like to see some differences come in for the pirate sub factions in the future. Whilst I realise that there would be a HUGE amount of man hours involved in each station design the atmosphere generated by them would be well worth it as far as us players are concerned. Maybe the Devs who would have to work 100 hour weeks for weeks on end to get them ready might think differently however . Maybe it would be a gradual release with the more common sub faction stations being done first. I would dearly love to see an Sci-Fi Bedouin style station for the Thukker Mix station for example. But then I am a firm believer in there should be more sub-faction variational differences in Eve anyway (Ammatar ships anyone?)

Eris, if you think players will be interested in clothing, you sure must be aware that RL clothing designers spend serious money on interior design of runways where such clothes are being showcased. Think about it. The whole point of wearing clothing is to adapt to the environment.
People make very good suggestions here. The least you can do is to use the lighting effects in the graphics engine that CCP is so proud about to create a proper feel.
And for god's sake, please limit the amount of stations enabled for WiS. Otherwise, everyone will spam each highsec stations with bars that no-one will ever visit. Use WiS wisely, to create a proper landscape for social interactions, connected with occupants of each particular region of space (NPC and _especially_ pod pilots). Make it so that corp or alliance can open WiS HQs only if they already have an active base in system, and have high factional standings (just like for jump clones).
Otherwise, you'll end up with 99% of bars located in Jita.

I have a feeling that all but the absolute worst and most torn down stations would actually be well managed if a bit crowded in some cases.
