And that's a problem.
Every games should be treated with equal rights.
I say those who treat someone with a "do this or gtfo" mentality should, ironically, gtfo. Noone benefits from elitism and other behavior like that.
Pyramid quoted for clarity.
100% agree Sheriff. This is a prime example of the kind of people that should, as he put it, "gtfo".
Nobody likes an asshat. People that aspire to be one (even virtually) obviously have serious mental issues. In some games it's the objective (like Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc.) and that's fine. Those games have their place and are great fun. In others it's more like real life (Eve) where you CAN do a bad thing but normally SHOULDN'T.
Personally I think too many of the FPS crowd have stumbled across Eve and think it's Quake in space. They can easily be identified by their mantra "It's just a game!".
If they seriously think Eve is "just a game" then they're clearly playing the wrong one. I kinda feel sorry for them actually. |

Originally by: Sheriff Jones What you do to corp-mates is ofcourse completely up to you, but a new player who you should try and keep in the game, or EVE to succeed further, you shouldn't. My whole point.
Ridiculing someone for a poor fitting, when they've just entered the game, or even smacktalking them, is not helpful to the game.
Yes, smacktalk is part of the game, but it's also harmful for the game.
This is the very issue that I'm amazed CCP doesn't address. It's almost like they ENJOY losing customers.
I've never seen a company act in such a self-destructive manner. Much less build "new customer repellent" INTO a product. Bizzare... |

And jet it seems to work. Ever asked yourself why???
But who cares, Eve is dying anyway isn't it...
LOL have you ever looked at any other MMO's? Eve is the tiny little guy at the bottom looking up and wondering why all the other guys are so monsterously huge. Yeah it's growing but the growth shown is hardly spectacular. It's actually quite "meh"... |

Orly?
As I've said before and many replies in this thread illustrate quite clearly, Eve is the place where most people that aren't accepted in other MMO's wind up.
Sure there are "good guys" that enjoy the game as well. I'm quite proud to be one of them. I've never seen the need to act like a blazing idiot or screw someone over just because I can. I fail to see the enjoyment in such a thing.
And before someone says it, no you can't have my considerable amount of stuff. I've been here since 2003 and have no plans on leaving any time soon! |

If I ever had the urge to waste my time in such a manner I'd probably just slit my wrists and go jump off a bridge instead. It would be much more fun! |

Originally by: Sol'Kanar I've been looking at Eve's growth from one of those 3rd party charts, and it appears Eve is the only MMO that has gained momentum the longer it's been around. Everyone else is the inverse.
I honestly don't understand what you're arguing here. You think that steady growth over the years is a bad thing?
It kind of feels like you're trying to latch onto anything to prove your point. A point which I'm not even sure you've made, yet.
Yeah I've had some experience with those charts (other than just looking at them) and I can tell you they are wildly inaccurate. Most of it is just guessing.
My point? Eve is a great game! Eve is full of asshats! Eve could be even better without them from a subscription level AND overall gaming experience point of view.
You know what I'd love to see? What I'd REALLY LOVE to see? A carebear shard. Yes I said it and I'm not ashamed! A CAREBEAR SHARD! I can promise you player numbers on it would dwarf Tranquility's in a matter of days.
Edit: Oh and I DO like pink nubbins. I'm wearing some right now! Love your sig |

Originally by: Sol'Kanar And in doing so, all that makes Eve special instantly has gone away.
I couldn't agree more. That "specialness" is the biggest obstacle to the game's growth and judging by the terrible descisions made by the devs over the years I'm sure you're right and it will never happen. |

Gah! Yeah you're right. I lost sight of the topic about halfway through and started ranting. I appologize.
Sorry Sheriff! ---
To err is human. But it shouldn't be the company motto...
